    Abstract: A transflective type blue phase liquid crystal display device and a liquid crystal display module of the same are disclosed. The transflective type blue phase liquid crystal display module includes an upper substrate, a lower substrate and blue phase liquid crystal molecules. Pixel electrodes and common electrodes are disposed alternately and disposed at intervals on an upper surface of each solid protrusion structure. Electric fields that are in parallel with a surface of each solid protrusion structure are generated in order to drive the blue phase liquid crystal molecules. Slope inclination angles provided at the upper portion and the lower portion of each solid protrusion structure are different such that optical delay properties at the transmissive region and the reflective region are identical.

    Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, a first substrate adjacent to a liquid crystal display panel is subjected to rubbing in a first direction that is the same as a polarization axis direction of light emitted from the liquid crystal display panel, and a second substrate that interposes a liquid crystal layer with the first substrate is subjected to rubbing in a second direction at a right angle with the first direction. The second direction is made the same as the polarization axis direction of polarized sunglasses to allow visual recognition of the image using the polarized sunglasses. Electrode patterns formed by alternately providing narrow and wide electrodes are arranged on the upper and lower substrates in a direction at a right angle with each other so that the rubbing directions on the upper and lower substrates form a right angle to ensure stable 3D display.

    Abstract: To maintain good operation of a peripheral circuit using an oxide thin film transistor in a liquid crystal display panel to which photo alignment is applied, the liquid crystal display panel includes: a transparent substrate provided with an oxide thin film transistor in the periphery of a pixel portion in which pixel electrodes are arranged, to control the pixel electrodes; and an alignment film to align liquid crystal provided in the pixel portion. The alignment film is subjected to photo alignment treatment by ultraviolet irradiation. Further, an ultraviolet absorbing layer is provided so as to cover the oxide thin film transistor. For example, an alignment film is used for the ultraviolet absorbing layer to absorb the ultraviolet light for the photo aliment treatment of the alignment film, in the peripheral circuit portion for controlling the pixel electrodes, thereby preventing the threshold voltage of the oxide thin film transistor from shifting.

A second substrate such as a color filter glass layer may be interposed between the upper polarizer and the liquid crystal layer. The color filter glass layer may have opposing upper and lower surfaces. The lower surface of the color filter glass layer may have an array of color filter elements. To prevent damage to display, an electrostatic shielding layer may be formed on the upper surface of the color filter glass layer under the upper polarizer. Reflections may be minimized by using index-matching dielectric layers in the display or thinning the shielding layer.
