Patent number: 5031728Abstract: A group supervision method and apparatus for an elevator system wherein information items on elevator traffic states are gathered for selected days. Each day is divided into a number of time zones that contain traffic state information. Information gathered for selected days is compared by comparing respective time zones of the selected days. Days that have traffic states of small mutual differences are grouped together as a handling unit. The traffic state information of each time zone of each day is statistically processed and the days comprising the handling unit are treated as a single unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masaaki Amano

Patent number: 5025895Abstract: There is provided a detection system for detecting attempted entry onto the shaft-side roof of an elevator cab which includes a power supply for supplying power to the system, a proximity detector in electrical connection with the power supply which is disposed proximate the roof of the cab for detecting an object entering a zone of detection including the top of the cab, the detector in a preferred embodiment including an optical source for generating a detection beam and a corresponding optical receiver for receiving the detection beam when it is diffused by an object entering the detection zone and for providing a detection signal when the object enters the detection zone, and detection indicator responsive to the detection signal for indicating an attempted entry.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1990Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: G.E.C. Holding Corp.Inventors: Richard J. Leone, Robert F. Cummins, Joseph Vitiello, Thomas Brochhagan

Patent number: 5024296Abstract: A computer based elevator system (FIG. 1) including data "filtering" means evaluating at least part of the system's over-all operational, historic data base, determining when significant traffic density was present in the system and then selecting out such data, saving it in a special data base. Boarding and de-boarding count data is separately processed on a floor-by-floor, time-interval-by-time-interval, sequential basis and evaluated with respect to two base lines (FIGS. 2A and 4)--a first, "end" base line ("E") based on a preset, lower percent of the total floor's population ("F.P."; e.g. E=1% F.P.), and a second, "start" base line ("S") baased on a preset, higher percent of that floor's total population (e.g. S=3% F.P.); and two time frames--a first, minimum time frame ("T.S.") based on the time (e.g. 18 minutes) the values must stay above "S" for significant traffic density to be considered present, and a second, maximum time frame ("T.E.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1990Date of Patent: June 18, 1991Assignee: Otis Elevator CompanyInventor: Nader Kameli

Patent number: 5007506Abstract: An elevator remote-control method according to this invention consists in that, when a maintenance command has been received, a call-back program is executed which comprises a ring-off processing step of once disconnecting a telephone circuit, and a reconnection step of dialing a remote monitoring center to reconnect the telephone circuit, whereupon a program which conforms to the maintenance command is executed.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1990Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shigehiko Suzuki, Kenzo Tachino

Patent number: 4977984Abstract: A method and apparatus for the generation of elevator car position information in an elevator shaft includes a safety light barrier mounted on the car and actuating vanes in the shaft cooperating with a safety circuit for connecting the door and lock contacts to a source of electrical power in the door zone of a destination floor for a stopping elevator car. The safety light barrier has two transmitters and two receivers which are positioned on a horizontal line and are masked simultaneously by the actuating vanes. The safety circuit includes two redundant systems for signal preparation and signal evaluation including test circuits to recognize errors and prevent a premature opening of the elevator door.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1989Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Assignee: InventioInventors: Hansjorg Arnosti, Hans Bussmann
