  • Patent number: 5330608
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping flexible elongate objects has a wrapping wheel arranged coaxially to a longitudinal axis of the objects and having a tape spool support movable therewith, drive mechanism with a roller drive for advancing the objects and arranged at one side of the wrapping wheel, and an electric program control for controlling a drive length by set point/control point comparison. The drive mechanism also includes a carriage movable parallel to an axis of rotation of the wrapping wheel and to the longitudinal axis of the objects, and includes a holding device on the wrapping wheel side for holding an end of an object for pulling the object through the wrapping wheel. The drive mechanism also includes two vertically displaceable rolls which for a start of the wrapping are positioned relative to one another so far that the holding device is movable between the rolls to the wrapping wheels.

  • Patent number: 5259910
Abstract: An apparatus for glueing the tail or outer end of a web of material which has been formed into a log which comprises: device (9, 13) for unwinding the tail from the log (R); applicator (45) for applying glue to the log; tail rolls (97, 99) for re-winding the tail back on the log and glueing the tail to the log; and conveyor (23, 41) for transferring said log. The applicator for applying the glue includes a dispenser device (55-63) provided with a nozzle (61) forming at least one upwardly oriented slit (63) from which the glue is dispensed by overflowing; the log (R) conveyor (23, 41) discharges the log, with the tail (L) being unwound from it, above the glue dispenser, causing it to roll over said slit (63) for the application of the glue to the log.

  • Patent number: 5244530
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for laminating patches to a base web accurately, and as efficiently as possible, are provided. Two webs are fed at speeds which are related as the ratio of the width of each patch to the separation distance between patches, the patch web moving more slowly. Patches are cut from the patch web and transferred to the other web while being accelerated to the higher speed.

  • Patent number: 5242525
Abstract: The glueing apparatus includes a pair of endless conveyor members (13, 15) whose active branches (13A, 15A) are parallel, with one superimposed above the other and spaced apart to an extent corresponding to the diameter of the rolls or logs (R) and moving in the same direction whereby to move the log forward. The upper active branch (15A) extends further than the lower active branch (13A). Unwind mechanism (31) for unwinding the tail (L) of the material of the log (R) is located upstream of the lower endless conveyor member (13) and controlled by an optical sensor which checks the length of said tail. Downstream of the lower endless conveyor member (13) a glue dispenser (58) dispenses glue from below onto the outer surface of the log. A subsequent rewinding station (R) is located downstream of the lower continuous conveyor member (13).
