  • Patent number: 4883440
Abstract: A building block is provided comprising a support part, two zig-zag shaped conductive tapes connecting a series of coupling pins with conductive surfaces positioned on the support part, and a cover plate. The coupling pins which extend through openings in the cover plate define two separate electrical circuits with the coupling pins arranged in two rows and the pins of one row being displaced by one pin with respect to the pins of the other row. A prong extends from each of the coupling pins to the inner sidewall of the support part. The building block may be connected to another similar building block with the electrical circuits separated in a short-circuit proof fashion.

  • Patent number: 4865574
Abstract: A device for amusement and instruction comprises a succession of planar display panels, hingedly connected to collectively provide a book-like structure. The panels display words, pictures and the like. One or more of the panels displays an incomplete or partial scene within its perimeter. Adjunct display members needed to complete the partial scene are supported by such panel and/or an adjacent panel for movement from disposition within the perimeter of the book-like structure to position completing the partial scene. When the panels are disposed to provide the book-like structure, the adjunct display members may be nested within its perimeter such that the closed book-like structure is generally square, rectangular, or of other desired shape, not evidencing the presence of the adjunct display members.

  • Patent number: 4840597
Abstract: A doll is provided capable of blowing bubbles. The doll has a receptacle for holding bubble making liquid attached to the doll's trunk. A bubble making tool having a ring-shaped end is attached to a moveable arm of the doll. The arm is able to pivot about the trunk so that the tool may be dipped in the liquid and raised up to a mouth opening formed in the doll. An air impeller is located in the doll's head and forces air out of the doll's mouth when a circuit is closed by the motion of the arm in bringing the tool close to the mouth opening. Bubbles are produced when the air flows through the ring-shaped end of the tool coated with a liquid film.

  • Patent number: 4836821
Abstract: Toy apparatus is provided with delivery structure constructed to simulate a natural birthing process by imparting slow pulsating delivery motion to fetal dolls as they exit from a simulated birth canal. Such delivery structure includes an elongated cylinder which constitutes a birth canal, a piston mounted for longitudinal movement within the cylinder, a spring that biases the cylinder forward to push fetal dolls in a delivery direction through the open front end of the cylinder, and retarding structure acting on the piston in opposition to the spring. The retarding structure includes a seal function alloy engaged with the cylinder and carried by the piston, and metering structure to create a vacuum behind the piston by limiting the rate at which air is drawn into the cylinder behind the piston while the latter moves forward.

  • Patent number: 4832652
Abstract: A plastic film including indicia such as letters and/or a picture thereon is stretched across a continuous elastic circular member to form a planar toy. A player holds the elastic circular member on opposite sides by both hands, twists the elastic circular member into a figure 8 shape, and then folds the elastic circular member into three overlapping portions, which configuration is retained until disturbed. When the folded toy is thrown at an object, the toy opens to the original, flat, circular shape with a frightening sound, while simultaneously displaying the indicia.

  • Patent number: 4832648
Abstract: An aminated toy figurine which may be used as a cover for a book having a head and a body including a trunk and at least a pair of protruding appendages such as a pair of arms. Extending between the head and the trunk is a pivot member. One end of the pivot member is attached to the stuffing material inside the head. The other end of the pivot member is attached to the inside of the fabric forming the trunk. Extending and attached along the inside of the arms is a length of elastic. The length and elasticity of the elastic is such that when the arms are pulled together about a vertical surface, the elastic is tensioned forcing the fabric of the trunk and the pivot member to fulcrum against the vertical surface raising the head of the figurine. Alternatively, when the arms are moved apart, the tension on the elastic is reduced allowing gravitational forces to act on the head permitting the pivot member to pivot away from the vertical surface and thus lower the head of the figurine.

  • Patent number: 4832653
Abstract: A toy musical instrument of the type commonly known as a kazoo having an open-ended turret section, a resonating membrane positioned within the turret section and a retainer member for installation within the turret section and for releasably securing the membrane within the turret section utilizes a turret section having a plurality of protuberences and a retainer member defining an embossment which cooperates with the protuberences to secure the retainer member in a snap-fit relationship with the turret section when the retainer has been inserted a preselected distance through the open end of the turret section. The embossment and the protuberences are so shaped to permit the retainer and the turret section to be disassembled from snap-fit relationship only if the retainer body is positioned in a preselected rotational orientation relative to the turret section.

  • Patent number: 4802878
Abstract: A doll has bendable arms that are movable from a position generally alongside the doll's torso up toward the doll's head. Each arm has a hand attached for rotation about the wrist. When an arm is bent and moved up, the attached hand rotates. Movement of each arm is effected by a cable extending through a hollow, bendable conduit. One end of each cable is connected to a respective hand and at the other end to a common control knob. The hands are biased to rotate in one direction and rotate in the opposite direction when the respective cable is tightened. Side to side turning of the doll's head is also effected by movement of the control knob. In addition, a "crying" sound is effected through the control knob by turning over a sound drum when the arm and head motions are made.
