  • Patent number: 6729781
Abstract: An image forming device for connection to first and second external devices, including a control unit having an alternate operation mode for performing alternating communication with external devices by switching communication at a predetermined cycle. During communication with one of such external devices, the control unit enables reception of commands and/or a print-start signal from that external device and refuses reception of commands and a print-start signal from another external device. When communication is changed over from one external device to another external device, the control unit provides an interval in which reception of commands and a print-start signal from both external devices is refused for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6722276
Abstract: Devices for turning sheets in a rotary printing machine are described. The devices have a storage drum for handling sheets, which are each held by a holding device, and a turning drum is disposed downstream of the storage drum and has a holding device for engaging a rear edge of the sheet to be turned. An operation of detaching the sheet to be turned from the storage drum and carrying it along by the turning drum leads to the formation of a pressure reduction in an area formed between the sheet to be turned, the storage drum and the turning drum. The pressure reduction is compensated for by supplying ambient air, blast air and/or compressed air. The turning device has a channel and/or a passage orifice connected to an inner chamber of the turning drum. Via the channel and/or passage orifice air can be sucked and/or blown into the reduced-pressure area.

  • Patent number: 6722800
Abstract: At least one printer is connected to an image source such as a digital camera via a network. When the printer receives a notification from the image source to switch a first image displayed on a display device to a second image, the printer displays an identifier of the second image according to the notification, and lights up an LED on a print button provided on the printer. When a period in which the printer is permitted to print the displayed image reaches a set time before a timeout, the LED on the print button is flashed. When the timeout is reached, the LED is turned off. When the print button is depressed, the printer sends a request for an image to the image source, receives image data for the image sent from the image source, and prints the image.

  • Patent number: 6724177
Abstract: The present invention, generally speaking, provides a method and apparatus for accurately measuring a communications signal. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, DC offset effects and nonlinearities attributable to a communications amplifier are made spectrally separable from DC offset effects and nonlinearities attributable to the measurement apparatus. Spectral separability may be accomplished, for example, by adding an offset frequency to a local oscillator used by a downconverter of the measurement apparatus. As a result, the signal of interest is moved away from baseband (zero frequency) to the offset frequency. Similarly, other nonlinearities in the video amplifier (such as third order distortion) manifest theselves mostly at harmonics of the offset frequency. Hence spectral separability between the power amplifier characteristics and these nonlinear impairments of the measurement system is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6719466
Abstract: Since both an output setting value and an output subject identifier, which are contained by a setting program, are stored as one record into a drawing table, an output condition such as a layout of image data which is designated when a printing operation is carried out can be previously set before the printing operation is carried out. Since photograph numbers of image data stored in a memory card are defined in relation to output subject identifiers, such image data to be printed out can be designated.

  • Patent number: 6715420
Abstract: A printing plate for computer-to plate lithography having a metal substrate with an anodized surface portion. The anodized surface portion has a porous texture in which a radiation-absorbing composition, preferably a black dye, is deposited. The surface portion with the radiation-absorbing composition is covered with a hydrophilic polymer or a sealant both. Upon exposure to laser radiation, the underlying oleophilic anodized surface portion containing the radiation-absorbing composition is revealed. Alternatively, laser radiation of the polymer composition may cause the affinity of the polymer for water and ink to change so that an irradiated portion of the polymer becomes oleophilic while the non-irradiated portion remains hydrophilic.

  • Patent number: 6715423
Abstract: An image of a design pattern of wallpaper stored in a data base (DB) is viewed by a user computer of a user who is a general consumer or a contractor from a server computer provided in a head office of a wallpaper manufacturer through the Internet. Further, upon accepting an order of wallpaper from the user who saw the image by the user computer, the server computer fetches the image of the design pattern from the DB. A wallpaper printer then prints the image on a wallpaper sheet, thereby manufacturing the wallpaper desired by the user. The produced wallpaper is delivered to the user who gave out the order by, for example, a door-to-door delivery service.

  • Patent number: 6701836
Abstract: A method of synchronizing a printing-machine drive system having a plurality of drives with drive motors, includes assigning to the drives local drive control units and a central operating and control unit with a data processing system having components connected to communicate with one another. The drive motors are operated decentrally by prescribed drive data via the respectively assigned drive control units. Respective drive data are calculated, with at least one of the components of the data processing system of one of the drive control units, in dependence on computing operations required in other components of the data processing system. System-induced differences between the drives or system-induced differences between the components of the data processing system are compensated, in a resulting calculation. • Patent number: 6698948
Abstract: If bus resetting occurs during transmission of printing data (ST21), a printer device is requested to transmit the information output before the occurrence of bus resetting by a STB (C18). Responsive to a request from the STB, the information input before the occurrence of the bus resetting is output from the printing device to the STB (R18). Based on the information input responsive to the request, printing data is again output from the STB to the printing device (C19). So, the system itself recognizes the information output by the STB before the occurrence of the bus resetting to re-initiate data transmission as from mid data (S14). Thus, data transmission is to be carried out in a shorter time even when the bus resetting occurs to shorten the entire printing time.
