  • Patent number: 5198113
Abstract: A filtering arrangement is provided for effluent from a septic tank prior to passage to a drain field or other disposal. The filtering arrangement makes use of an open-top, U-shaped filter means into which the septic effluent is conducted from the top, preferably through a T-fitting providing an open-topped channel leading into the U-shaped filter. The filter is preferably formed of an outer perforated casing and an inner lining of an open-cell-type polymeric material which effects the filtering of the effluent. The U-shaped filter is preferably suspended from the T-fitting. The arrangement provides fail-safe filtering automatically adjustable for varying flow rates and conditions of the filter. The polymeric filter medium is changed periodically to maintain efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5194267
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tire vulcanizing press which presses to fasten an upper and a lower molds used for vulcanizing a tire by hydraulic cylinders and raises and lowers the upper mold in an up-and-down direction to remove the tire being finished a vulcanizing processing. In the tire vulcanizing press in accordance with the present invention, since the plurality of tie rods hung from the upper mold installation member are respectively connected through the lock device to the cylinder rod of the fastening cylinder and the lower mold installation member to which the fastening cylinder is fixed is pressed to rise toward the upper mold installation member, only the tie rods are positioned around the upper and the lower molds. Therefore, a maintenance of the upper and the lower molds becomes easy, and it also becomes possible to reduce the apparatus size of the tire vulcanizing press as a whole.

  • Patent number: 5194077
Abstract: A sweeper hopper and associated filter assembly as illustrated and described. The filter assembly effectively divides the hopper into a particulate contaminant receiving chamber and a clean air exhaust chamber. The filter assembly includes at least a pair of particulate blocking filter means and means for selectively directing the transient air stream through one or the other or both of the filter means. The filter assembly further includes cleaning means for selectively imparting the filter means, typically during periods of quiescence, to physically loosen and remove particulate contaminants therefrom and direct such contaminants into the contaminant receiving chamber.

  • Patent number: 5192343
Abstract: A high efficiency ventilation system for removing contaminants from an area. The system includes a fan unit and filter unit. The filter unit has two filters, a prefilter and a HEPA filter, each of which has its static pressure monitored by a separate gauge. The static pressure of the fan used in the fan unit is monitored by a third gauge. Thus, it is possible to determine which of two filters needs replacement and troubleshooting can be performed much faster and more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 5192346
Abstract: This invention is an air purifier pleated flat filter to be installed in passenger motor vehicles to stop pollution for passengers inside of the motor vehicle. This filter will cleanse the air which is pulled by the blower from outside the motor vehicle and/or the existing air polluted by passengers inside the motor vehicle. It also absorbs the odors and emissions from the air conditioner. This filter prevents pollutants, which are emitted from the exhaust fumes of the motor vehicles, as well as hydrocarbons, odors, smoke, soot, dust and allergens-pollen from polluting the air which enters the motor vehicle interior. The pleated filter is preferably installed in the plenum of the vent which is connected to the cowl plenum chamber or in the plenum of cowl plenum chamber of the vehicles's heating-cooling system. The filter is also preferably equipped with a sensor switch that notifies the driver whenever the filter becomes dirty and must be replaced.

  • Patent number: 5190571
Abstract: A diesel particulate trap has a filtering element which is a mass of fibrous filter material that radially fills a tubular casing. The filtering element employs lofty yarn extending in straight lines in a repeating pattern, which lines of lofty yarn have been compacted to form a plurality of fibrous walls that intersect to form tunnels extending in the axial or longitudinal direction of the casing. Some of the tunnels are filled with plugs that afford structural integrity while others of the tunnels remain open. The ends of the filtering element are covered by endplates. Substantially one-half of the open tunnels are axially aligned with openings in the inlet endplate and with imperforate areas in the outlet endplate, and the other open tunnels are axially aligned with openings in the outlet endplate and with imperforate areas in the inlet endplate. Exhaust gases entering tunnels open to the inlet pass through the compact fibrous walls and exit through tunnels open to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5188647
Abstract: A drop leg has a housing provided with top and bottom ends. The top end has an inlet and an outlet and the bottom end has a drain. An impingement plate supported within the housing is spaced from the top end to establish a separating chamber and to be directly contracted by the air stream through the inlet. The upper surface of the impingement plate is downwardly and inwardly inclined and has a central drain. The air stream striking the inclined surfaces rebounds towards the outlet. When vapors are to be removed, the drop leg is provided with a bulkhead below the impingement plate and is sealed to the housing and establishes with the impingement plate an intermediate chamber and with the bottom end a lower chamber for contaminants separated from the air stream.

  • Patent number: 5188645
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dew point adjustment using dry dehumidifiers wherein fixed dew point adjustment of drying air can be ensured from the time immediately after the start of coating until the establishment of a steady operating state, even if dry dehumidifiers of low control response are used. As a result, air having a fixed dew point can be always sent to a drying apparatus at a low drying cost. Air received from the drying apparatus is dehumidified to a dew point below the desired steady-state dew point, and then humidified to the desired dew point. After steady-state operation is reached, the humidification is discontinued.

  • Patent number: 5182832
Abstract: An inlet tube has a connector at one end for coupling to an air supply hose, and a rotary head is rotatably mounted on the other end of the inlet tube. The rotary head has an internal air distribution chamber connected to the inlet tube and small outlet openings in its outer peripheral wall for spraying air from the chamber towards an air filter unit. Rotor or spin outlet passageways in the peripheral wall are arranged at an angle to cause the head to spin in a turbine-like fashion when air flow is directed from the chamber and out through the passageways. The rotating head sprays air outwardly across the surface of an air filter unit to dislodge dirt from filter paper in a filter unit.
