Abstract: A radiation targeting system is provided. The system can include an introducer and an implant. The implant can be disposed within a cannula of the introducer and the implant can include a wire stem and multiple different wire branches each extending outwardly from a proximal portion of the wire stem. A radiation source can then be used to target the implant so that radiation therapy can be delivered to a patient. Optionally, a loader and a trocar can be included with the system.

Abstract: The present application discloses systems and methods for transmitting configuration between a command module and a stimulation module of a hearing prosthesis. In accordance with at least some embodiments of the disclosed systems and methods, a hearing prosthesis determines that a block of configuration data is queued for transmission. In response to this determination, the hearing prosthesis divides the amount of queued configuration data into a plurality of configuration data fragments and transmits the data fragments separately. In some embodiments, the command module appends each configuration data fragment to a different packet of stimulation commands and transmits to the stimulation module appended stimulation packets.
Abstract: The altitude-optimized, pressurized suit consists of a sheath of a sparingly expansible textile material. This sheath has fastened in it, and on it, by sewing, adhesive bonding or welding, compartments which are formed by virtue of the sheath being doubled, in that a strip of textile material is applied to the inside, or in the second case to the outside, of the sheath, and therefore it is connected to the sheath if only along its periphery. These compartments likewise consist of textile materials, in the first case of the same material as the sheath, and in the second case of an expansible knitted fabric. Flexible tubes-which expand under pressure are introduced into these compartments. The first-mentioned compartments act as “spacers” for tightening the suit over the topography of the wearer's body. The second-mentioned compartments act as “muscles” and press locally onto the wearer's body.
Abstract: A deep magnetic field generating apparatus includes a first coil unit and a second coil unit. The second coil unit is connected with the first coil unit, and disposed around the first coil unit horizontally. Accordingly, the deep magnetic field generating apparatus can generate a desired deep magnetic field.

Abstract: A urethral support sling implant for treatment of male urinary incontinence is produced in a biocompatible material and comprises a central part intended to form the area supporting the urethra, including an inferior base prolonged into two trans-obturator arms in the same plane and in opposition to each other. The inferior base is prolonged upwards by a section extending beyond the inferior base in the form of two pre-pubic arms. The prolonging arms are made of the same material as the central part, and the arms are produced in the same direction of knit. The pre-pubic arms are configured in a ‘V’ relative to each other, and each of the pre-pubic arms is configured in a ‘V’ relative to the subjacent trans-obturator arm.

Abstract: A totally implantable method for occluding the urethra or bladder neck utilizing an occlusive cuff connected to a control mechanism via a conduit tube. The occlusive cuff is reversibly changed from an activated (occlusive condition) to a de-activated (non-occlusive) condition by depressing a deactivation button contained within a resilient, elastomeric sheath surrounding the control mechanism. The occlusive condition is once again obtained by depressing an activation button also situated within the resilient sheath. In the occlusive condition, a preset tension is applied to a flexible diaphragm through a tensioning suture by a constant force spring contained within the control mechanism. This tension is translated into an occlusive pressure applied to the urethra or bladder neck sufficient to prevent urinary leakage.
Abstract: This catheter comprises a tubular catheter body defining a longitudinal channel, the distal end of the catheter body being closed, and the channel opening out through a single side orifice onto an external surface of a side wall of the catheter body at a distance from this distal end. Abstract: A system, method and device for treating tumor cells utilizing a resorbable therapy seed made up of microspheres containing a beta- or alpha-particle-emitting radiation source and a resorbable polymer matrix. These seeds are implanted within the tumor and then rapidly dissolved so as to release the microspheres from the polymer matrix. These microspheres then spread within a preselected target area and provide radiation therapy in a predetermined amount and at a preselected rate according the specific needs and necessities of the users. The configuration of the microspheres, the types of radiation provided and the location and use of these microspheres provides desired localized treatment to target cells while preferentially avoiding or minimizing undesired damage to surrounding tissue. The present invention provides a method for making the seeds, as well as a method for utilizing the seeds as a part of the treatment method.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for corrective guidance of eating behavior of a patient equipped with a gastric restriction device. The apparatus provides continuous monitoring or one or more parameters related to food passing through the gastric restriction device. Each monitored parameter is processed to provide a visual indication of the current eating behavior. The visual indication is used as input to the patient or a caregiver to modify the eating behavior. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes an emergency relief mechanism that automatically relieves excess pressure developing in the gastric restriction device. In some embodiments, the apparatus is enabled to deliver an appetite suppressant to modify the eating behavior.
Abstract: Among other things, uterine lavage is performed to withdraw at least 50% of in vivo fertilized preimplantation embryos produced after superovulation of a woman and artificial insemination using sperm of her sexual partner. After genetic diagnosis or sex determination or gene therapy, or any combination of any two or more of them, of the recovered embryos and selection of at least one of the embryos to be implanted, the selected embryos are returned to the woman for implantation in her uterus.
