Abstract: Flexible graphic element objects in a process plant are configurable both in a run-time operating environment in which a process is being controlled and in a configuration environment. An instantiated flexible graphic element object may be a display view or may be another graphic element included on a display view. A graphic element object may be linked to and/or derived from another graphic element object, and changes to a particular graphic element object may be propagated to its derivations, e.g., according to a distribution policy. Changes to definitions corresponding to a particular graphic element object (e.g., to the definition of a graphic element attribute such as a shape, animation, event handler or property) may be overridden or modified in another object derived from the particular graphic element object. The modified derived object may be renamed and saved separately from the particular graphic element object.

  • Patent number: 11500363
Abstract: A hybrid data collection and analysis infrastructure combines edge-level and cloud-level computing to perform high-level monitoring and control of industrial systems and processes. Edge devices located on-premise at one or more plant facilities can collect data from multiple industrial devices on the plant floor and perform local edge-level analytics on the collected data. In addition, the edge devices maintain a communication channel to a cloud platform executing cloud-level data collection and analytic services. As necessary, the edge devices can pass selected sets of data to the cloud platform, where the cloud-level analytic services perform higher level analytics on the industrial data. The hybrid architecture operates in a bi-directional manner, allowing the cloud-level and edge-level analytics to send control instructions to industrial devices based on results of the edge-level and cloud-level analytics.

  • Patent number: 11480944
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to methods, mediums, and systems for associating information, including critical-to-quality (CTQ) information such as minimum or maximum part dimensions, with parts in a three-dimensional model of a product. The information may be identified by performing a failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) against the model. The information is stored with the model data (e.g., in the form of an annotation applied to a model feature corresponding to the part in question). The model data may be consulted by product lifecycle management (PLM) applications during various phases of the product's lifecycle. Among other possibilities, the information may be used to automatically generate regulatory compliance documentation, to ensure product quality standards are met during a manufacturing process, or to perform postproduction quality monitoring of the product.

  • Patent number: 11476693
Abstract: Systems and methods of improving storage and consumption of electricity according to time-based tiered criteria are disclosed. An energy storage system controlled by a processor is optionally connected to a utility power grid, a photovoltaic (PV) power source, and/or electrical loads. Time-of-use (TOU) rates (or similar tiered criteria) are input into the processor, which sets charge and discharge profiles according to the criteria, the arrangement of time windows, and the user's preferences. Energy is stored or discharged according to these profiles. Additionally, the energy storage system may record the production and consumption patterns of the user over time, and use this information to modify the profiles for enhanced performance by allowing discharge during non-peak windows. Benefits include reduced electrical cost to the user, reduced strain on the utility power grid during peak consumption hours, and enhanced performance with regard to any other criteria input into the processor.

  • Patent number: 11467548
Abstract: A method comprises measuring a light intensity at a window; determining if the light intensity exceeds a cloudy-day threshold; operating in a sunlight penetration limiting mode to control the motorized window treatment to control the sunlight penetration distance in the space; enabling the sunlight penetration limiting mode if the light intensity is greater than the cloudy-day threshold; and disabling the sunlight penetration limiting mode if the total lighting intensity is less than the cloudy-day threshold. The cloudy-day threshold is maintained at a constant threshold if a calculated solar elevation angle is greater than a predetermined solar elevation angle, and the cloudy-day threshold varies with time if the calculated solar elevation angle is less than the predetermined solar elevation angle. The cloudy-day threshold is a function of the calculated solar elevation angle if the calculated solar elevation angle is less than the predetermined solar elevation angle.
