Abstract: A radome type nose cone shell subjected to aerodynamic heating during protile travel, is ablatively cooled by evaporation of metal coolant from a solidified coating thereof adhering to the external surface of a porous section of the cone shell through which the coolant seeps from internal storage at a rate regulated by formation of the solidified coating. The evaporating coolant from the coating mixes with the air in the flow stream to form a protective a boundary layer extending downstream from the porous section of the nose cone shell. The coolant is melted by said aerodynamic heating during internal storage within the nose cone shell for seepage outflow from the porous section and has the requisite heats of vaporation and fusion to effect alternate freezing and thawing thereof in response to withdrawal of heat by the cooling process for establishment and maintenance of the flow regulating coating.

Abstract: An opto-electronic, interference protected missile tracking system operates according to the multiple shutter shifting method, thereby employing a matrix which may have a plurality of liquid crystal cells or deformable mirror devices. These cells or devices are arranged in a rectangular coordinate system and thus have an inherent location determination so that the need for a mechanically movable reticle is obviated. The individual image points in the matrix are modulated under the control of a location determining central processing unit whereby the individual control covers an "n.times.m" vicinity around the image point or pixel that is illuminated by the useful incoming light.
Abstract: A rocket that includes a center body with a system center of gravity and rocket motor means mounted relative to the center body and reaction surfaces for causing a resultant force from thrust of the rocket motor means to direct the resultant force through the system center of gravity of the center body.
Abstract: A repeating rubber band pistol is shown which includes a frame having a barrel and a handle. A handle recess houses a rotary magazine. A plurality of bands can be stretched between a barrel notch and engagement points on the rotary magazine. A trigger element is mounted within the frame recess and allows controlled movement of the rotary magazine to selectively release rubber bands in single fire fashion with successive trigger pulls.
Abstract: In a sonar used to determine the characteristics of the underwater mines, the emission diagram in the vertical plane is modified to obtain two main lobes separated by a central zero value. At reception, the bearing/frequency display system shows a dark strip separated by two luminous strips. When the echo from a mine persists, in going through the dark zone, it is recognized that it pertains to a moored mine floating in the water, thus enabling moored mines to be identified and their submersion depth measured.
Abstract: An underwater location beacon emits a continuous wave signal which is phase-shift modulated by a pseudo-noise, spread spectrum code. This signal is detected with an exact replica of the transmitted code. To an unauthorized observer without the replica, the transponder's signal is indistinguishable from background ocean noise. The spread spectrum code allows extraction of the signal from high levels of ocean noise, providing an increased detection range, jamming resistance, covertness, and unique signals for each pinger. The outputs of the surface spread spectrum receiver are used with automated location algorithms. Several receivers at different surface positions provide the underwater coordinates of the pinger's location.
Abstract: An automatic device with interchangeable interface for the introduction of cartridges in the bifilar or monofilar magazines of automatic and semi-automatic arms, comprising a plate (1) with a cartridge-guide ledge (2), placed above a vertical track (3) for transferring said cartridges into a suitable seat (18) from which a piston (13) introduces the same, one by one, into an arm magazine by means for a movable pin (10) provided in such a way that it may bend at right angle.
