Patent number: 9349339Abstract: A source driver pre-charging apparatus including a data detection module, a determining module, and a pre-charging module is disclosed. The data detection module captures a first most significant bit having N bits in a current data and a second most significant bit having N bits in a former data and compares them to generate a compared result. N is a positive integer larger than or equal to 2. The determining module judges whether any data is transited from a first grey-level region to a second grey-level region between the former data and the current data and at least one other grey-level region is existed between the first grey-level region and the second grey-level region. If the judgment result of the determining module is yes, the pre-charging module performs a pre-charging action on an output voltage of a source driver.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Raydium Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Kai-Lan Chuang, Chien-Ru Chen

Patent number: 9335874Abstract: A system and method are provided for validating a signature on a touchscreen using a smart stylus. Software residing on a touchscreen device disables touch input from sources other than the stylus. In one embodiment, the stylus wirelessly transmits a stylus identifier to the touchscreen device to identify the stylus to the device. The stylus may also have a stylus tip that produces an encoded voltage pulse sequence that is used to identify the stylus to the device. A stylus ID is associated with an encoded voltage pulse. The touchscreen device can look up the stylus ID in a database, determine the encoded voltage pulse associated with the stylus ID, and determine that a voltage pulse transmitted by the stylus tip is the pulse associated with the stylus ID, thus validating the source of data input on the touchscreen.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2013Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: BBY SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Todd M. Patent number: 9092094Abstract: An optically transmissive element of a computing device can be used to enable touch input. One or more light sources, such as infrared (IR) light emitting diodes (LEDs), can direct radiation into an edge or side of the transmissive element and direct light to reflect from at least one other side or edge using total internal reflection (TIR). If a user places a finger at a position where the light reflects from an edge of the element, a portion of the light will be transmitted out of the element causing a reduction in the amount of light received to one or more light sensors. By monitoring losses for one or more light sources across one or more light sensors, locations at which losses occur can be determined. These locations can correspond to various types of user input.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2011Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Leo B. Baldwin

Patent number: 9086763Abstract: A device implements a method for estimating the application force of a touching object onto a touch surface in an FTIR-based projection-type touch-sensing apparatus. The apparatus generates projection signals representing radiation that has propagated on a plurality of propagation paths by total internal reflection (TIR) inside a transmissive panel beneath a touch surface of the transmissive panel such that a touching object on the touch surface causes attenuation (frustration) of at least one of the projection signals. The device generates a time series of force values, which represent the application force, based on a time series of magnitude values, which represent a magnitude of a peak in two-dimensional interaction patterns generated by image reconstruction processing of the projection signals, the peak corresponding to the touching object on the touch surface. The force estimation may involve one or more corrections.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2013Date of Patent: July 21, 2015Assignee: FLATFROG LABORATORIES ABInventors: Andreas Johansson, Nicklas Ohlsson
