  • Patent number: 10968700
Abstract: A ball transfer mechanism for a harmonic drive and linear piston motor is disclosed. The ball transfer mechanism includes a spherical ball and a cylindrical seat portion. The seat portion defines a hemispherical shaped recess with a contour for receiving the ball. The ball transfer mechanism is in an exterior wall of a housing for converting rotary motion to linear motion, driving a linear piston motor. The harmonic drive drives a rotor of the linear piston motor. The harmonic drive includes a hollow cylindrical coupler portion engaging a rotor portion for transferring torque to the rotor portion. Transfer mechanisms disposed along a housing wall of the linear piston motor engage the coupler portion. The coupler portion includes harmonic cam grooves for receiving spherical balls in the ball transfer mechanism that drives rotational motion in the rotor in response to axially linear movement of the piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 10968000
Abstract: A packaging method includes the steps of (a) detecting whether a height (104) of contents (105) in a container (106) exceeds a predetermined height (112), and (b) indicating how much dunnage to dispense based on predetermined criteria, including whether a detected height exceeds a predetermined height that is less than a height of the container. The indicating step includes indicating a quantity of dunnage to dispense selected from a plurality of predetermined quantities of dunnage. If no detected height is greater than the predetermined height, the indicating step includes indicating that a regular amount of dunnage should be dispensed. And if a detected height is greater than the predetermined height, the indicating step includes indicating that either zero or less than the regular amount of dunnage should be dispensed. The detecting step also can include detecting whether any contents in the container have a height above the height of the container.

  • Patent number: 10932772
Abstract: Methods of controlling velocity of a firing member in a robotic surgical system are disclosed. One method detects an end effector condition during closure, sets a command velocity of a displacement member based on the closure condition, fires the displacement member at the set command velocity, detects an end effector condition during a firing phase, and sets a command velocity based on the firing condition. Another method receives closure force of a closure member, compares the actual closure force to a threshold, determines a set point velocity based on the comparison, and controls the actual velocity of the closure member based on the set point velocity. Another method receives actual closure force of a closure member, receives actual position of a firing member, and sets a new closure force based on the actual closure force applied to the closure member and the actual position of the firing member.

  • Patent number: 10926450
Abstract: A method of manipulating thermoplastic film to create integrated features and particularly relates to an improved method of manufacturing a packaging bag that is reclosable after initial opening. Multiple sections of thermoplastic film are layered on top of themselves to form a multi-layer portion of the thermoplastic film. The multi-layer portion may then be conglomerated into a unitary thicker portion of the film that can then be shaped into a closure strip. In order to form a bag, a second such closure strip may be made. The two closure strips are then aligned and the remaining open portions of the bag are then sealed such that the closure strips form a reclosable opening that may be opened and closed repeatedly.
