  • Patent number: 9528398
Abstract: A variable valve lift apparatus includes a rocker arm having a rocker arm shaft penetrating therethrough. One portion of the rocker arm is supported by a cam shaft and another portion thereof contacts an upper end of an intake valve or an exhaust valve to open and close the intake valve or the exhaust valve. An actuator is disposed at an end of the rocker arm and protrudes toward the intake valve or the exhaust valve depending on an oil pressure applied to change an opening of the intake valve or the exhaust valve. A control valve applies the oil pressure to the actuator to maintain an opened state of the intake valve or the exhaust valve when the intake valve or the exhaust valve is closed.

  • Patent number: 9523292
Abstract: A valve control system for an internal combustion engine, the engine having at least one cylinder with at least one intake or exhaust valve and a piston and the valve being operable independently of the rotation of the engine crankshaft. The system is configured to generate a control signal that controls a preconditioning actuation cycle of an actuator prior to a first combustion cycle of the engine, receive a feedback signal relating to an operating condition of the actuator during the preconditioning actuation cycle, and generate a modified control signal that controls a combustion actuation cycle of the actuator, modified with reference to the feedback signal. This recalibration of the valve control signals allows the current operating conditions of the valve train to be taken into account before the first combustion cycle of the engine.

  • Patent number: 9500107
Abstract: A control system for an engine is provided. The system includes a hydraulically-operated variable valve timing mechanism, a variable oil pump, and a hydraulic-pressure control valve. The variable valve timing mechanism has advance-side and retard-side operation chambers and a locking mechanism. The system includes a hydraulic-pressure sensor for detecting hydraulic pressure within a hydraulic-pressure path, and a pump control device for performing a target hydraulic-pressure control. During a change of an engine operating state in a specific operation of the engine, while an unlocking operation of a locking member of the locking mechanism is performed, the pump control device performs, instead of the target hydraulic-pressure control, a discharge amount restricting control to control the hydraulic pressure to be an upper-limit hydraulic-pressure value or lower, which is an upper limit to perform the unlocking operation.
