Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes sending, to a client system of a first user, a notification for presentation to the first user. The notification may include a reference to a media-content item and an activatable element for accessing the media-content item. A user input selecting the activatable element may be received. Responsive to the user input, a list of proximate media-player devices to the client system may be determined. The list of proximate media-player devices may be sent to the client system for presentation to the first user. Each of the proximate media-player devices may correspond to a deep link being selectable by the first user. Each deep link may include instructions for presenting the media-content item on a display device coupled to the respective media-player device.

  • Patent number: 11394682
Abstract: Described embodiments provide systems and method for reordering the IP addresses within a DNS response. The servers associated with a domain can often be located across multiple locations. The paths from a client to each of those different servers can have different link qualities. Additionally, the connection between the client and the domain can have different quality requirements. The present solution can consider the link qualities and the connection quality requirements to reorder the IP addresses within a DNS response. By reordering the IP addresses, the system can control to which of the servers the client connects and can ensure that the connection is made over a path that can fulfill the connection's quality requirements.

  • Patent number: 11329936
Abstract: The system executes online on corporate premises or in a cloud service, or offline. An e-mail message is received at a server within a corporate network or cloud service. A header of the e-mail message is parsed to determine locations of server computers through which the e-mail message has traveled. Geographic locations are placed into a routing map. A banner is inserted into the e-mail message that includes the routing map or a link to the routing map. The routing map is stored by the e-mail gateway server at a storage location identified by the link. The modified e-mail message is delivered or downloaded from the e-mail server to a user computer in real time. The sender Web site is parsed to identify sender domain information to be inserted into the banner. If offline, a product fetches and modifies the e-mail message using an API of the e-mail server.

  • Patent number: 11329901
Abstract: Examples can include an optimizer that dynamically determines where to place virtual network functions for a slice in a distributed Telco cloud network. The optimizer can determine a slice path that complies with a service level agreement and balances network load. The virtual network functions of the slice can be provisioned at clouds identified by the optimal slice path. In one example, performance metrics are normalized, and tenant-selected weights can be applied. This can allow the optimizer to prioritize particular SLA attributes in choosing an optimal slice path.

  • Patent number: 11223567
Abstract: A first node in a service mesh is configured to perform one or more services on network traffic obtained from an upstream network element via a pre-existing Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) session and provide the network traffic obtained from the upstream network element via the pre-existing TCP session to a downstream network element. The first node determines that the first node should no longer obtain the network traffic from the upstream network element via the pre-existing TCP session. In response, the first node provides state information for the pre-existing TCP session to the downstream network element. The downstream network element is configured to establish a new TCP session having the state information for the pre-existing TCP session with the upstream network element and to obtain further network traffic from the upstream network element via the new TCP session. The first node terminates the pre-existing TCP session.

  • Patent number: 11201791
Abstract: A network device in a Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) cluster may receive a request for a service that requires use of a resource of a first type; and determine whether a resource utilization level, associated with the resource, at a MEC device in the MEC cluster exceeds a threshold. When the network device determines that the resource utilization level exceeds the threshold, the network device may determine whether a candidate MEC device is available within the MEC cluster to provide a resource of the first type; and enable the service to be provided.

  • Patent number: 11190409
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for resource optimization in Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks are presented. For instance, the disclosure presents an example method executed by a network node (106) in an IoT system (100). In some embodiments, the example method includes predicting (202) a likelihood that a future event will be detected by one or more IoT devices (102) in the IoT system (100) under different potential resource allocation and IoT device settings. The predicting (202) is conducted subject to resource availability constraints in some examples. In addition, the example method includes, based on the predicting (202), adapting (204) at least one of resource allocation and IoT device settings in the IoT system (100) for the future time. This adapting (204) is conducted such that the likelihood that the future event will be detected is maximized under the resource availability constraints according to a target optimization function.

  • Patent number: 11177972
Abstract: A method, and associated computer system and computer program product, for notifying users of events. A notification server that includes a computer receives a notification rule. The notification server generates, for the received notification rule, a unique identifier for communication. The notification server receives an indication of an IT event that occurred in a source computing device. The received notification identifies a software hug associated with the IT event. The notification rule is a condition of a severity level of the software bug exceeding a predefined threshold. The notification server determines whether the received indication satisfies the notification rule. In response to determining that the received indication satisfies the notification rule, the notification server marks the received event, using the unique identifier and broadcasting the marked event for receipt by those users who have access to said unique identifier.

  • Patent number: 11169708
Abstract: Reducing buffer space that is reserved when a VM attempts to write to disk. A shared memory maintains stored information available to all VM's, allowing translation between accessible to RSD's, independent of how that VM's storage is divided into VSD's. When a guest OS writes to a VSD, an “extent”, designating a location in the shared memory and amount of data to be transferred, which can be passed directly from the guest OS, through each element involved in translating the operation into one or more operations on RSD's, keeping copying to a minimum. No substantial changes need be made to the guest OS.
