Patent number: 6389928Abstract: A locking device for a parking brake is provided which ensures that the operation of locking a parking brake lever and the operation of releasing the locking of the parking brake lever can be carried out in a single stage. The parking brake lever is pivotally supported on a mounting bracket mounted on a steering handle by a first support shaft, and a lever locking member is pivotally supported on the mounting bracket by a second support shaft, and biased by a torsion spring. When the parking brake lever is operated, an engage groove in the parking brake lever is brought into engagement with a locking pin, whereby the parking brake lever is locked at a brake operating position. When an operating portion of the lever locking member is urged in a direction against a resilient force of the torsion spring, the engagement of the engage groove and the locking pin with each other is released, whereby the parking brake lever is pulled by a Bowden cable and swung back to an original brake releasing position.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Kobayashi, Kenji Kamata

Patent number: 6378396Abstract: A welded crankshaft having a number of individual elements and cavities formed in the region of the main bearing journals and crank journals. The individual elements are configured so that oil passages in the overlap region between the main bearing journals and crank journals run substantially in the axial direction, and transition via radial orifices directly into the journal surface. The cavities of the main bearing journals and crank journals can be made very large, so that the weight of the crankshaft is kept light. In addition, because of the simple geometry of the oil passages, the crankshaft can be manufactured in modular fashion from the individual elements.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2000Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Rudolf Reinhardt, Hans Zechmann

Patent number: 6374694Abstract: A hand brake device for a wheelchair comprising a hand brake device on either handlebar and an associated brake provided on wheel. The hand brake device comprises a body member, a brake lever, and an actuator. Brake lever is coupled to brake cable. Body member comprises an open space with two extended opposite curve members of brake lever received therein, and a recess pivoted about a bolt. Operator may grip lever member to pivot brake lever so as to move toward or away from handlebar, thus tautening the brake cable for braking. A stopper member is inserted into channel of opening on the side of body member. When the brake lever is pulled toward or pushed away from the handle, the brake cable is tautened for braking the vehicle such that the stopper member clears from the channel. Further, pulls or pushes the actuator to cause the end of the stopper member to be clung between the dents, thereby locking the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: ENSD CorporationInventor: Chi-Shen Chen

Patent number: 6340072Abstract: A removable grease dam tool to facilitate proper filling of grease within a wheel hub assembly and a method of using the same. A grease dam is placed adjacent an outer surface of a wheel hub mounted to a spindle. The grease dam blocks at least 50% of the exposed area between the wheel hub and spindle and leaves a top portion open to allow greased to be injected into the inner cavity of the wheel hub. A portion of the grease dam is disposed within the wheel hub between the wheel hub and spindle to simulate the presence of the outer bearing. Once the inner cavity of the wheel hub is filled beyond a 50% fill level, the grease dam is removed and the outer bearing assembly is immediately thereafter installed.
