  • Patent number: 11652722
Abstract: The embodiments described herein can dynamically adjust timing of network bandwidth estimations by adjusting a target frequency for sending probing sequences to one or more receivers of content. The receivers receive these probing sequences from a transmitter and respond to the transmitter with network bandwidth estimations. In one embodiment, the probing sequences can use the content itself to create the probing sequences. The embodiments can be used in video conferencing applications to control how a transmitter of content can adjust transmissions based upon the network bandwidth estimations. In one embodiment, a policy can be used at a transmitter to begin a video transmission with a high frequency target for sending probing sequences (with, e.g., smaller length probing sequences) and transition to a lower frequency target (with, e.g., longer length probing sequences) when network bandwidth deteriorates and then return to the higher frequency target when the network bandwidth improves.

  • Patent number: 11652842
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for edge device assisted mitigation of publish-subscribe denial of service (DoS) attacks are disclosed. An edge device hosts a virtualized copy of an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device subscribed to one or more publish-subscribe topics. When the edge device receives an indication to activate the virtualized copy of the IoT device, for example, during a DoS attack on the IoT device, the edge device activates the virtualized copy of the IoT device, which receives traffic from the publish-subscribe topic. The virtualized copy of the IoT device applies security policies to incoming traffic received from the subscription topics and transmits to the IoT device sanitized traffic obtained from the received incoming subscription content traffic.

  • Patent number: 11652768
Abstract: Methods and devices are presented for managing communications in an ephemeral communication system. In some embodiments, messages in the system are associated with a default trigger for deleting each message following an initial viewing of the message. A non-ephemeral analysis module analyses elements of the message to identify any content elements indicating that a message status should be changed from a default ephemeral status to a non-ephemeral status. Following identification of such elements in the message, the message status is changed from ephemeral to non-ephemeral. Based on the non-ephemeral message status, a copy of the message may be automatically stored in a non-ephemeral format, or a default trigger for deletion of the message may be changed.

  • Patent number: 11640644
Abstract: Secure system and method of detecting and preventing inmate to inmate message relays. A system and method which monitors inmate communications for similar phrases that occur as part of two or more separate inmate messages. These similar phrases may be overlapping in real time as in a conference call or can occur at separate times in separate messages. The communications that appear similar are assigned a score and the score is compared to a threshold. If the score is above a certain threshold, the communication is flagged and remedial actions are taken. If the flagged communication contains illegal matter then the communication can be disconnected or restricted in the future.

  • Patent number: 11637889
Abstract: An example method of providing a configuration for a multitier microservice architecture includes receiving a configuration request from a user for a configuration that satisfies a set of conditions in a cloud environment. The method also includes searching a configuration data store for the configuration that matches the set of conditions. The configuration specifies a first container and a second container, the first container sends a first communication to the second container, and the second container sends a second communication responsive to the first communication to the first container. The method further includes in response to finding the configuration that matches the set of conditions: sending an allocation request to a cloud provider for allocation of the configuration in the cloud environment and providing a first identifier (ID) that identifies the first container and a second ID that identifies the second container to the user.

  • Patent number: 11627050
Abstract: A network apparatus detects connection requests and extracts related data. The data is analyzed to determine whether the host is in an active state, whether the host matches a domain referrer and an amount of time from a last connection request. If it is detected that the host is not in an active state, the host is not matching the domain referrer and the amount of time from the last connection request exceeds a predetermined new session threshold, then a connection request is classified as a main request. If the amount of time from the last connection request is below a predetermined continuous session threshold, then any connection requests following the main request are classified as sub-requests. If the domain of host in the active state does not match current host for a sub-request, the sub-request is classified as a third-party request.
