Patent number: 10363401Abstract: A sinus dilation instrument useful with a navigation system and including a handle, a rigid probe, a balloon, and an identifier device. The probe extends from the handle, forms a curved segment, and carries the balloon. The identifier device is programmed to generate a signal indicative of an instrument identification assigned to the instrument, and is a frontal, maxillary or sphenoid sinus instrument. The signal is formatted to be recognized by an IGS. Once connected, the IGS recognizes the instrument and can retrieve information indicative of a spatial location of the balloon, for example via an instrument tracking device. A surgeon can “plug and play” the sinus dilation instrument with the IGS to perform a procedure.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2016Date of Patent: July 30, 2019Assignee: Medtronic Xomed, Inc.Inventors: Robert K. Patent number: 10327932Abstract: Catheter including a pressure chamber defined by proximal and distal seals and inner and outer tubular members. An actuator member, moveable between first and second positions, is disposed within the pressure chamber. Fluid introduced into the pressure chamber applies a force on the actuator member to move the actuator member toward the second position. A lock mechanism, disposed between inner and outer tubular members, includes a latch having an engaged condition preventing movement of the outer tubular member relative the inner member and a disengaged condition allowing movement the outer member. The latch is shifted to the disengaged condition when the actuator member is moved to the second position. With the actuator member in the second position and the latch in the disengaged condition, fluid introduced through the fluid flow port and into the pressure chamber applies a force on the proximal seal to urge the outer tubular member proximally.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2016Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: ABBOTT CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: Daniel H. Patent number: 10307240Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use in capturing embolic debris during a surgical procedure in a patient are provided. The methods include utilizing an embolic capture device that is configured for delivery into a patient via a transapical delivery approach and via an arterial delivery approach, and determining which of a transapical delivery approach and an arterial delivery approach should be used with the patient. The methods also include inserting the embolic capture device within a delivery system, and deploying the embolic capture device at a desired location within the patient's blood vessel that is downstream from the location of the surgical procedure. The same embolic capture device is configured for use with a transapical delivery approach and an arterial, such as a transfermoral, delivery approach.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2012Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Inventor: Alan Zajarias

Patent number: 10299945Abstract: A tack device for holding plaque against blood vessel walls in treating atherosclerotic occlusive disease can be formed as a thin, annular band of durable, flexible material. The tack device may also have a plurality of barbs or anchoring points on its outer annular periphery. The annular band can have a length in the axial direction of the blood vessel walls that is about equal to or less than its diameter as installed in the blood vessel. A preferred method is to perform angioplasty with a drug eluting balloon as a first step, and if there is any dissection to the blood vessel caused by the balloon angioplasty, one or more tack devices may be installed to tack down the dissected area of the blood vessel surface, in order to avoid the need to install a stent and thereby maintain a ‘stent-free’ environment.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2018Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: Intact Vascular, Inc.Inventors: Peter Schneider, Robert Giasolli

Patent number: 10278851Abstract: A delivery catheter comprises an inner shaft and an outer sheath. A stent-graft is held on a region of the inner shaft. An enlarged diameter distal region of the outer sheath constrains the stent-graft. Its retraction allows the stent-graft to deploy. A finger wheel on a handle is used to retract the outer sheath and is coupled to a sliding block with cable(s). The sliding block is coupled to the outer sheath and is held within a sliding track. The wheel can be actuated to tension the cable(s) and deform latch(es) coupled to sliding block, freeing them from slot(s) in the sliding track and allowing retraction of the sliding block and the outer sheath. A reinforcement sleeve is coupled to a smaller diameter proximal region of the outer sheath. A gap between the outer sheath distal region and the reinforcement sleeve allows the distal outer shaft region to be retracted.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: PQ Bypass, Inc.Inventors: Gene Reis, Kumar Jambunathan, Steven Tyler
