Abstract: A method comprises identifying an engine-run tip position for an airfoil having a tip section and a root section. The engine-run tip position is displaced and rotated with respect to a nominal position, as defined with respect to the root section before engine running. A airfoil tip is formed on the airfoil, and a machining datum is defined adjacent the airfoil tip. The tip section is translated and rotated to locate the airfoil tip in the nominal position, without respect to a location of the root section. The tip section is restored to a nominal profile by machining the airfoil tip along a machining path defined with respect to the machining datum, wherein the machining path is independent of the displacement and rotation of the engine-run tip position and independent of the position of the root section.
Abstract: The present invention provides a toner transfer roller which exhibits decreased toner charge (Q/M) and an enhanced toner transfer rate (M/A). Specifically, the present invention provides: a toner transfer roller for a negatively chargeable toner, comprising a rotating shaft and a polyurethane foam body layer provided to surround the rotating shaft, wherein the polyurethane foam body layer contains a charge control agent which is negatively chargeable with respect to polyurethane in triboelectric series; and a toner transfer roller for a positively chargeable toner, comprising said rotating shaft and said polyurethane foam body layer, wherein said polyurethane foam body layer contains a charge control agent which is positively chargeable with respect to polyurethane in triboelectric series.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for aiding in manual handling of a work piece during machining, which method comprises the steps of: reading a predetermined work plan, comprising a required orientation of the work piece for each machining step of the work plan; detecting the orientation of the work piece; comparing the detected orientation of the work piece with the required orientation; and projecting an indication on the work piece for aiding to manually orient the work piece to the required orientation for the machining step to be performed. Al disclosed is a device for performing the method.

Abstract: Methods of forming polarized panes for variable transmission windows are disclosed. The polarized panes are formed from transparent substrates that are brushed with a brushing pattern that varies continuously in a select direction over each of one or more periods. A layer of polarizable material such as POLARCOAT material can be deposited on and responds to the brushed surface by forming a polarization pattern that substantially matches the brushing pattern and thus also includes one or more periods.
Abstract: A method for revamping a secondary reformer (1), the reformer comprising an internal gas riser pipe (8) for routing a process gas from a bottom gas inlet to a combustion chamber (5) located above a catalytic zone (6), and a distributor (9) for introduction of an oxidation agent such as process air into the combustion chamber. The original distributor of the oxidation agent is discontinued, the gas riser pipe is shortened (8?) and the outlet end of the shortened gas riser pipe is arranged to deliver a gas flow directed upwards. A new burner (20) is installed on top of the reformer, the new burner being arranged to deliver an oxidation agent such as process air with a downward flow, thus obtaining a counterflow mixing zone (23) and formation of a diffusion flame above the outlet end of the gas riser pipe.
Abstract: A system and methods for disassembling a rotary machine are provided. The rotary machine includes a casing having a plurality of arcuate channels. The system includes a reaction bridge that is configured to couple to the casing of the rotary machine such that the reaction bridge is moveable along a length of the casing. The reaction bridge includes a front support and a rear support that is substantially parallel to the front support. Each of the supports includes a first leg, a second leg, and a support beam extending therebetween. A force device including an actuator and an engaging rod extending therefrom is coupled to the reaction bridge. The force device is configured to apply a force substantially tangentially to a segment positioned in one of the casing arcuate channels.

Abstract: The anticorrosion treatment method of the invention is carried out on the outer surface of an aluminum extruded heat exchange tube which is formed of an Al alloy containing Mn 0.2 to 0.3 mass %, Cu 0.05 mass % or less, and Fe 0.2 mass % or less, and which has a wall thickness of 200 ?m or less. The anticorrosion treatment method includes applying a specific dispersion of a flux powder and a Zn powder onto the outer surface of the heat exchange tube, and vaporizing a liquid component of the dispersion, to thereby deposit the Zn powder and the flux powder on the outer surface of the heat exchange tube, such that the Zn powder deposition amount, the flux powder deposition amount, and the ratio of the flux powder deposition amount to the Zn powder deposition amount are adjusted to specific values.

Abstract: A fall protection system having two telescoping supports positioned at either end of a job location in combination with conventional ladders. The two supports retain and securely attach to a horizontal support beam that is the anchoring location for a fall protection harness. The two supports may also be laterally interconnected to the two ladders, which may additionally support a conventional walk board via ladder jacks. A user may then use the walk board to perform installations or repairs above the minimum height necessary for fall protection and be secured against a fall by attaching via a harness and strap to the cross-bar.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a torque converter shell is provided to induce favorable residual stress in a direction of a loading condition to improve durability during cycle pressurization. The method includes inducing favorable residual stress on a front cover, an impeller shell, or both the front cover and the impeller shell to improve the durability of these components. The induced residual stresses reduce the stress experienced by these components during operation. The front cover and impeller shell are welded together to form the torque converter shell.
Abstract: An assembly method is provided by orienting a cylinder-head at a first orientation. A first plurality of spring caps and a first plurality of retainer keys are installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a first robot. A first plurality of valves is installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a second robot, into engagement with the first plurality of retainer keys. An end effector is provided with an actuator supported upon an adapter plate. A shaft extends from the actuator with a mating surface to engage a spring cap. Porting is provided through the shaft to convey pressurized air upon a plurality of retainer keys within the spring cap. A plurality of gripper fingers extend from the distal end of the shaft to grip a valve spring while retaining a spring cap between the valve spring and the mating surface of the shaft.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a structural part with a cannula for the subcutaneous administration of an active substance is disclosed. A loose cannula is threaded on a piercing means to form a ready-to-use cannula piercing unit and subsequently, a cannula housing is injection-molded onto the cannula. Abstract: An air-driven device for feeding lockbolt collars to a presentation position for installation on lockbolts, one at a time, including a hand-held grip with a curved presentation piece on the top end and a flared bottom end with an air input. The grip is designed to receive in an attached relationship a cylindrical collar cartridge with a spiral cartridge passage for holding a large number of collars. An air supply can be connected into an inlet in the flared collar of the grip and this inlet is in communication with an air passage that extends downwardly through the cartridge to a point where it enters into the spiral passage so as to urge collars upwardly through the spiral passage into the grip body and from there to the presentation position.
