  • Patent number: 8911217
Abstract: An abnormality detecting device for a hydraulic system is disclosed. The hydraulic system has a pressure level switching mechanism that adjusts oil pressure in accordance with the operating state of an internal combustion engine. The device includes an oil pressure sensor and a ECU. The oil pressure sensor detects an oil pressure that is adjusted by the pressure level switching mechanism. When the pressure level switching mechanism changes the oil pressure from a first oil pressure level to a second oil pressure level, which is higher than the first oil pressure level, the ECU compares the oil pressure detected by the oil pressure sensor with a determination oil pressure level, which is lower than and close to the second oil pressure level. The ECU determines that there is an abnormality in the hydraulic system if the oil pressure detected by the oil pressure sensor does not change to pass the determination oil pressure level.

  • Patent number: 8905720
Abstract: An arrangement for monitoring a supply within a platform. A sensor is arranged to generate sample values relating to a fluid characteristic variable, wherein the fluid is fed by the supply within the platform. A processor is arranged to receive a plurality of sample values from the sensor. The processor, is arranged to generate an absolute value of a difference between each of the received plurality of sample values and a subsequent associated sample value, wherein the received sample values are generated during a predetermined time period. The processor is arranged to determine an indication number corresponding to the number of the generated absolute values which are greater than a predetermined threshold value. The sample collecting process is only active when a criterion comprising a stable pump in a no load condition and all hydraulic consumers are in a resting position or close to a resting position is fulfilled.

  • Patent number: 8894377
Abstract: A personal motorized cooling fan designed to retract and fold into a vertical tower for economy of shipping, storage and desk space. Each fan blade includes a blade portion and a root portion that rides in a race that guides the blades as they splay during rotation. When the fan is turned on, the rotation of the shaft and therefore race, combined with centrifugal force, causes the blades to splay forming a radial array. A protective cage including an array of longitudinal members expands in a fan-like manner. The cage is engaged with ribbons of stretch fabric that retract and fold along with the cage and blades after use. The entire assembly folds tidily into a slender tower.

  • Patent number: 8864478
Abstract: The exposure of components to high-pressure fluids can result in the application of high tensile stresses to those components, which may lead to reduced life. The preload system described herein helps to reduce the magnitude of those tensile stresses by providing a body and a plug. The body includes a first bore and a second bore. The first bore is configured to be exposed to high tensile stresses. The second bore includes a first engagement structure and a bottom surface near a first portion of the first bore. The plug includes a second engagement structure and a first end. The second engagement structure engages the first engagement structure to force the first end of the plug against the bottom surface of the bore. The force of the plug against the bottom surface of the bore applies a compressive preload to the first portion of the first bore.
