Patent number: 10788807Abstract: A method for compensating for the deflection of a milling cutter during the machining of a workpiece by a numerically controlled machine tool having a plurality of axes includes: executing a learning cut on a test workpiece having a known geometry by the milling cutter mounted on a tool spindle in a climb milling mode, and in doing so, ascertaining a correlation between a quantity that is proportional to the torque of the drive of the tool spindle and the deflection of the milling cutter normal to a surface of the test workpiece, the deflection being determined by comparing the actual contour of the test workpiece to a setpoint contour. This is followed by storing of the correlation for the milling cutter and machining of the workpiece by the milling cutter in a climb milling mode, while utilizing the stored correlation for compensating for the deflection of the milling cutter by applying a positional correction that is proportional to the quantity to a setpoint position of the axes of the machine tool.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2018Date of Patent: September 29, 2020Assignee: DR. Patent number: 10684612Abstract: In an embodiment, the techniques herein include receiving a request for a suggested distribution rate of a particular field-distributed commodity in a particular geographical area. Based on that request, two or more rate models for distribution of the particular field-distributed commodity are computed, where one rate model is a user-tolerance model. The suggested distribution rate of the particular field-distributed commodity is determined by performing Bayesian updating where the user-tolerance model is treated as a prior distribution and distributions for each of the other rate models of the two or more rate models for distribution of the particular field-distributed commodity in the particular geographical area are treated as input data in the Bayesian updating. The determined suggested distribution rate of the particular field-distributed commodity is then sent in response to the received request.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2018Date of Patent: June 16, 2020Assignee: The Climate CorporationInventors: Maria Antonia Terres, Robert P. Patent number: 10678196Abstract: Soft sensing of nonlinear and multimode industrial processes given a limited number of labeled data samples is disclosed. Methods include a semi-supervised probabilistic density-based regression approach, called Semi-supervised Weighted Gaussian Regression (SWGR). In SWGR, different weights are assigned to each training sample based on their similarities to a query sample. Then a local weighted Gaussian density is built for capturing the joint probability of historical samples around the query sample. The training process of parameters in SWGR incorporates both labeled and unlabeled data samples via a maximum likelihood estimation algorithm. In this way, the soft sensor model is able to approximate the nonlinear mechanics of input and output variables and remedy the insufficiency of labeled samples. At last, the output prediction as well as the uncertainty of prediction can be obtained by the conditional distribution.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2020Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: King Abdulaziz UniversityInventors: Yusuf Al-Turki, Abdullah Abusorrah, XuDong Shi, Qi Kang, MengChu Zhou
