  • Patent number: 8565322
Abstract: A digital broadcasting transmission and/or reception system having an improved reception performance and a signal-processing method thereof. A digital broadcasting transmitter comprises a TRS encoder for to TRS-encode a MPEG-2 transmission stream having null data for inserting a Known data and a TRS parity at predetermined positions, randomizer to input and randomize data stream from the TRS encoder, a null packet exchanger to replace the null data for inserting the Known data to the known data, and an encoder for encoding a data streams to which the Known data is inserted. Accordingly, the present invention detects the known data from a signal received from a reception side and uses the detected known data for synchronization and equalization and further uses the TRS parity for correcting error of the received signal, so that the digital broadcasting reception performance can be improved at poor multipath channels.

  • Patent number: 8559521
Abstract: A motion compensation method includes receiving mode information that identify a field motion estimate/compensate mode. The method further includes performing, on the basis of the mode information, a motion compensation of a decoded image signal including a luma signal and a chroma signal in a format in which the number of chroma pixels is vertically different from the number of luma pixels. The method further includes detecting a condition that a reference field has a different parity from a current field for a motion compensation. The method also includes controlling, in the detected condition, the motion compensation so as to vertically shift a phase of the chroma signal in the reference field so that the reference field will coincide in phase of the chroma signal with a current field.

  • Patent number: 8554047
Abstract: In a composite audio-video apparatus, when a user operates a remote controller and sends a DVD reproducing command, a remote control receiving section receives the DVD reproducing command and outputs it into a VCR control section and DVD control section. The DVD control section controls a DVD reproduce section to reproduce a DVD, and the DVD control section sends a direction signal to the VCR control section. When the VCR control section receives the direction signal, the VCR control section sends an image changeover signal to an image output section, and the image output section is set its image inputting source to the DVD reproduce section. The image reproduced by the DVD reproduce section is outputted to a television set via the image output section.

  • Patent number: 8531516
Abstract: This invention relates to measuring the light that is scattered from particulates (aerosols) in a gas or liquid. The sample typically flows into the instrument and the particulates are measured in-situ. The intensity of the scattered light is measured at many different angles, which determines both the amount of particulates in the sample, and detailed information about the particles such as average size, shape and composition. The measurement can be applied to climate and air pollution research, and clean room monitoring.

  • Patent number: 8514949
Abstract: A synchronous, multi-stream decoder provides synchronous playback of multiple streams of encoded digital data (e.g., MPEG streams) for use with, for example, a digital video streaming tool. The decoder includes a parser and decoder for each stream and a decoder engine for determining a target time for the decoders to complete their respective decoding processes. A next target time is preferably computed during a pause of the parsers after a current target time has been reached. In one embodiment, a next target time is computed by computing an average of the differences of stored playback times of the last N decoded frame sets.
