  • Patent number: 11497510
Abstract: An electromagnetic intramedullary nail screw positioning system is used to assist an orthopaedic surgeon to correctly aligned a screw drill guide with a screw receiving aperture in an intramedullary nail during surgery. However due to the large number of different types of intramedullary nail, the system must be calibrated during each surgery. An improved calibration system is described that no longer requires the surgeon to perform the calibration during the surgery in order to save time and improve robustness. The system is periodically calibrated and a memory stores offset information for a range of nails types relative to a reference nail. During surgery, the surgeon enters a nail identifier, and the system looks up the associated offset and applies this offset to the measured signals to guide alignment of the screw drill guide with the screw receiving aperture.

  • Patent number: 11490883
Abstract: An assembly for remotely manipulating a patient's spine. A compressor/distractor mechanism attaches to spinal anatomy or vertebral screws on adjacent vertebrae at a spinal surgical site on a patient's spine. A flexible cable is operatively connected to the compressor/distractor mechanism and to a control mechanism. The control mechanism manipulates the flexible cable, controlling the compressor/distractor mechanism to compress or distract the vertebrae. A rotatable surgical table with a remote control can be used in place of the compressor/distractor mechanism and the control mechanism. The rotatable surgical table can rotate the patient to place the spinal surgical site in a desired compressed or distracted position, and to place the patient in a desired orientation with respect to a horizontal reference plane.

  • Patent number: 11484368
Abstract: A method for intraoperatively planning and facilitating a revision arthroplasty procedure. The method includes capturing positions of a tracked probe as the tracked probe contacts an interface area between a bone and a primary implant component implanted on the bone, intraoperatively generating a virtual boundary corresponding to a portion of the interface area to be removed to detach the primary implant component from the bone using the positions of the tracked probe and without use of pre-operative medical imaging, facilitating removal of the primary implant component from the bone by providing a constraint on operation of a cutting tool while the cutting tool removes the portion of the interface area, the constraint based on a relationship between the cutting tool and the virtual boundary.
