    Abstract: A method of forming a batch of uniformly shaped glass sheet objects is disclosed. A stack of glass sheets is placed in a frame and submerged in a coolant. A hole is drilled through the stack. The cores of the hole and any debris from the drilling process are swept away in the coolant and pumped through a filter. A pin is inserted into the hole and attached to the base. A head on the pin, or a washer, fixes the stack of glass to the base at the hole. An outer profile is then cut in the glass stack around the hole while the formed objects are held to a base of the frame by the pin. Again, any debris is swept away in the coolant. The uniformly shaped objects are removed from the frame and separated. The glass sheet objects are preferably usable as a substrate for a magnetic or magneto-optical (MO) data/information storage retrieval medium.

    Abstract: A mechanical pipe coupling formed of segments attached end to end surrounding a central space is used to connect pipe elements having a raised circumferential shoulder in end to end relationship. The segments have arcuate surfaces and arcuate landings which subtend an angle less than 180° and which have a radius of curvature greater than the radius of curvature of outer surfaces of the pipe elements on the raised circumferential shoulder. The segments are maintained in spaced relation allowing the pipe elements to be inserted into the central space without disassembling the pipe coupling. Connection members attaching the segments to one another are tightened to engage the arcuate surfaces or the arcuate landings with outer surfaces of the pipe elements to effect the connection.

Thereafter, in a state that the check valve (20) is positioned on the upper side in the twin-tube shock absorber (10), a gas is sucked out from the inside of the twin-tube shock absorber (10) through a flow channel of the temporarily opened check valve (20), and a replacement nitrogen gas (36) is injected into the twin-tube shock absorber (10).

Counter holders are inserted from the opposite side into the cavities of the domes. From the fastening side, hold-down elements are driven against the sheet casing. Heated form punches are driven against the dome ends until the dome ends have mushroom-shape ends.

As the fastener is driven into the sheathing board, a portion of the membrane tears away from the surrounding feedband and becomes seated beneath the fastener.
