  • Patent number: 10078018
Abstract: A temperature detection apparatus and a rotation angle detection apparatus are provided that allow a temperature of a resolver to be calculated in real time. A rotation angle detection apparatus (10) (temperature detection apparatus) includes a resolver (20) with an excitation coil and output coils wound thereon, the excitation coil being subjected to an excitation voltage (VA) and the output coil outputting voltage signals (VB, VC) corresponding to the excitation voltage (VA), and a temperature calculation circuit (sensor microcomputer (32)) that detects a phase of the excitation voltage (VA) and that detects a phase of an excitation current (IA). The temperature calculation circuit (sensor microcomputer (32)) calculates a temperature of the resolver (20) based on a phase difference between the excitation voltage (VA) and the excitation current (IA).

  • Patent number: 10078067
Abstract: A sensing device and a sensing method for operating the same are disclosed. An analytical sample is subjected to an electric field within a sample chamber using at least two electrodes. Initially, a holding voltage is provided such that the analyte in the analytical sample polarizes and diffuses towards one of the electrodes forming an electrode-electrolyte interface. Subsequently, a pulsating sweep voltage is provided across the two electrodes. A current-voltage profile and/or a capacitance-voltage profile of the analytical sample are determined. The analyte is identified and quantified based on the current-voltage profile and capacitance-voltage profile respectively.

  • Patent number: 10054851
Abstract: A stiffening strip at selected edges of a screen may enable the use and mounting of a high-elastic modulus substrate screen material. Such screen materials may be engineered to provide polarization-preserving characteristics, and be applied to or part of the high-elastic modulus substrate. Furthermore, the stiffening strip may enable the use of screen vibration techniques to reduce speckle in display applications that use projection screens, particularly those display applications using illumination sources prone to speckle such as laser-based projection. The screen vibration may be provided by a vibrating device attached to the stiffening strip.

  • Patent number: 10012356
Abstract: Light-redirecting optical system for building fenestrations, such as glass doors and windows, storefront glazing systems, and curtain walls, that can collect and redirect daylight into the interior of a building. The light-redirecting optical system includes an outward-facing light-redirecting optical surface and an inward-facing light-redirecting surface. The outward-facing light-redirecting optical surface collects and redirects daylight mostly upward toward the inward-facing light-redirecting surface. The inward-facing light-redirecting surface receives the redirected daylight and further redirects it into the interior environment at pre-determined angles; so that all specular rays of light are at or above the horizon for a wide range of incident angles of daylight striking the outward-facing light-redirecting optical surface. The light-redirecting optical surfaces can be fabricated on a film or flexible substrate that may be directly applied to glass, acrylic, or other glazing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 9995795
Abstract: A system and method to detect the loss or disruption of one or more phases of a three phase alternating current (AC) power source used in the operation of a valve actuator. The loss of one or more phases of a three phase AC power source may cause a peak in AC power output. While a peak in AC power output may not affect an operation of electronic circuitry, all three phases are often required to safely operate other hardware components, such as an AC motor that is associated with the valve actuator. Therefore, in response to detecting the loss or disruption of at least one phase of a three phase AC power source, this disclosure presents a system and method to inhibit damaging operations such as operating an AC motor associated with a valve actuator, and continuing to operate communications and diagnostic circuitry to report the condition.
