  • Patent number: 5228606
Abstract: A bicycle carrier is for attachment to a spare wheel mount extending from a generally vertical panel of a vehicle. The carrier has generally similar first and second bodies wherein each body comprises an inner portion, an outer portion and an intermediate portion. The inner portion is securable to the spare wheel mount within a mounting plane disposed between the spare wheel mount and a spare wheel carried on the mount. The outer portion has a holder for holding at least one bicycle on a first side of the mounting plane. The intermediate portion interconnects the inner and outer portions and has clearance for the spare wheel on the mount, so that the intermediate portion extends from the inner portion to the outer portion radially across the wheel hub and a peripheral portion of the wheel and sidewall of the spare tire on a second side of the mounting plane remote from the first side.

  • Patent number: 5226585
Abstract: A disposable biodegradable insulated container includes a smooth walled frustoconical inner cup received within a frustoconical wrap. A series of angularly spaced apart fluted indentations formed in the outer surface of the wrap extend longitudinally of the wrap and terminate in spaced relation to the upper and lower edges of the wrap. The indentations define corresponding angularly spaced apart and inwardly directed ribs on the inner surface of the wrap which engage the sidewall and maintain portions of the wrap intermediate the ribs in spaced relation to the sidewall. The upper and lower marginal portions of the wrap are adhered to the sidewall. The thickness of the wrap is greater than the distance between the inner surface of the wrap and the outer surface of the sidewall measured from the central axis of the container in a radial direction and between the ribs. A method for making the container is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5222659
Abstract: A partition (10) installable in a container (X) for dividing its interior into a plurality of cells (C1-C12), more or less. The partition includes a first panel (12) having at least one score, crease or fold (14) therein by which the panel can be folded. The first panel may include a pair of panels having contiguous edges about which they pivot with respect to each other, in a manner similar to said folded first panel. The partition also includes second and third panels (20, 22) which are attachable to the first identified panel(s) at the fold(s), or edge separation. These latter panels have interfitting tabs (26a, 26b), that interfit intermediate each other. The second panel is attached to a sidewall of the first panel on one side of the fold and the third panel is attached to the sidewall on the other side of the fold. The panels move apart when the first panel is folded at the crease thereby to create the walls of the cells.

  • Patent number: 5207376
Abstract: The invention relates to a container which is folded from a flat blank of material being provided with a plurality of fold lines. The side walls are coupled to one another by bellows-type coupling members which are adapted to be inwardly folded during assembly to draw up the adjacent side walls to which they are attached. The top walls are dimensioned such that upon folding into substantially parallel relationship with the bottom wall it will form a closed container which is especially suitable to be used as a gift box. A portion of the bellows-type coupling member may be non-structurally adhered to a side wall of the container acting to greatly enhance subsequent folding and assembling of the container into its finished form. Predetermined fold lines may be pre-folded to allow more convenient assembly and still allow shipping in the flat form if desired.

  • Patent number: 5205480
Abstract: A recloseable pouring spout structure for a wall of a product dispensing carton has a first wall panel connected to the carton at a first fold line. The first wall panel has a first aperture. There is a second wall panel connected to the carton at a second fold line generally parallel and opposite to the first fold line. The second wall panel lies interior to the first wall panel and has an opener tab therein defined by a leader edge that is generally parallel to the second fold line, a hinge line generally parallel to the leader edge and a pair of generally parallel opposed side edges extending between the hinge line and the leader edge. At least one locking tab is present on one of the side edges intermediate the leader edge and the hinge line. The locking tab extends in a direction generally perpendicular to the extension direction of the leader tab and is positioned to underlie and engage an edge of the first aperture when the locking tab is in the plane of the second wall panel.

Abstract: An interlocking carton and lid combination is disclosed for storage of ice cream, frozen yogurt and the like. The interlocking combination includes a rectangular container provided with flaps integrally formed therewith and attached along a crease inwardly into the container and glued along a strip portion to the side walls. A slot is provided in each of two opposed sides on the exterior thereof, the slots formed in the side wall between the crease and the glue strip adhesively coupling the flap to the side wall. This positioning of the slot with respect to the crease and glue strip causes the unglued portion of the flap to bow outwardly. A lid having a central portion has transversely extending flanges integrally formed and attached to the peripheral edges of the central portion. The flanges include an outer side and an inner flap portion connected along a crease.

  • Patent number: 5203494
Abstract: A stackable package for storing fruit or like objects is in the form of a tray, carton or case (1) with a pair of panel supports (6) provided adjacent each end wall. The panel supports (6) substantially bear the weight of like packages positioned thereabove when a stack of packages is formed. The panel supports have a pair of protrusions (8) on the upper edge thereof and a pair of recess (14) adjacent the lower edge thereof wherein the protrusions can be positioned in the recesses of a package positioned thereabove when two or more packages are stacked. So that a stiff protrusion is provided, the panel support is formed from dual arch corrugated board having two layers of corrugated board joined at the protrusions. The wedge-shaped protrusions (8) thus produced can be readily indexed in adjacent recesses (18) in the base of a carton stacked above and in top lid apertures (23, 24) in the closed and open positions.
