  • Patent number: 7327938
Abstract: In recording audio information, an information medium in a format obtained by expanding the RTR (recordable/reproducible DVD) standard is used. For management information about each piece of information recorded on the information medium, an “audio information cell” is defined as a playback unit even for audio information as in the RTR standard. To a PGC (program chain) higher in level than the cell, “playback sequence” information about the relationship between other video information (movie cells) and/or still picture information (still picture cells) is given.

  • Patent number: 7317868
Abstract: The present invention has an objective of providing an optical disk having a high resolution picture and a system for reproducing data on the optical disk, which are compatible with a conventional system for reproducing an ordinary resolution picture. A high resolution signal is divided into a main signal and a sub signal by picture division means and MPEG-encoded. The main signal and the sub signal are divided into frames each having 1 GOP or more. The resultant first interleave block 54 and second interleave block 55 are recorded alternately on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduced both the first and second interleave blocks, so that a high resolution picture is obtained. A non-high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave block, so that an ordinary resolution picture.

  • Patent number: 7315688
Abstract: A recording medium for storing virtual deletion information, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor are provided. The recording medium includes a first region having a plurality of still pictures, and a second region having first virtual deletion information for the still pictures, and still picture group information for separating the still pictures in the first region into a predetermined maximum number of groups in order to manage the still pictures at a group level, wherein the first virtual deletion information is within the still picture group information, and if the first virtual deletion information is set to a virtual delete state, the corresponding still picture Is not to be reproduced. Accordingly, file extent Information can be prevented from excessively increasing by maximally preventing a recording area from being scattered, when some of a data file are deleted by a user's request.

  • Patent number: 7313319
Abstract: The video data including the unit compressed video data, each reproducible independently of each other, are recorded on the video data recording areas as the divided video data. The divided video data includes one or more integer number of unit compressed video data, which total data amount is not more than a predetermined data amount. The divided video data is recorded in the video data recording areas such that the head thereof coincides with the head of the sector on the information storage medium. Therefore, at the time of reproduction, by reading out one divided video data, the unit compressed video data can be obtained from the head of the divided video data thus read out. Thus, video data may be quickly reproduced by a simple processing even at the time of the special reproduction.

  • Patent number: 7305172
Abstract: The erasion level appending range of a file is instructed. According to this instruction, the erasion level is set. When this setting range does not agree with the cell unit of the current cell, the current cell is divided to set a sequence of divided cells. Playback management information of each of the divided cells and current cell is re-created, and erasion level information is appended to playback management information of the divided cell that belongs to the appending range.

  • Patent number: 7292771
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and process for dealing with moving pictures. A storage stores still pictures corresponding to scene switchovers of the moving pictures, and time stamps of the scene switchovers. A display controller provides a display control to display, given a reference position on the screen, the still pictures in positions at distances from the reference position. Those distances reflect differences between a time stamp corresponding to the reference position and the time stamp of the scene switchovers.

  • Patent number: 7289716
Abstract: A programmable video recorder (PVR) includes a writer application programming interface (API) and a reader API that operate essentially independently to enable the PVR to be networked to multiple reader applications. The writer API creates a backing store and a shared memory mapped file. The backing store stores streamed data in temporary files. The shared memory mapped file stores state information of the backing store files. The reader API receives requests from reader applications to access the stored streamed data. In response to the requests, the reader API permits the reader applications to access the shared memory mapped file to determine where the stored streamed data is located. Upon locating the stored data, the reader API permits the requesting reader applications to access the stored streamed data.

  • Patent number: 7280745
Abstract: Several audio/video streams are recorded in an interleaved manner on logical tracks of variable sizes. These audio/video streams are selected on the basis of an allocation table contained in a random access memory, and which describes the state of occupancy of the logical tracks. The logical tracks include elementary storage portions formed of integer numbers of sectors of the disk. A chaining of the various portions is performed during recording using the index numbers of the preceding and succeeding portions, as well as indications of unknown relationships which will be updated subsequently.
