Abstract: A novel protein tyrosine phosphatase is the protein designated PTP 1D. The PTP 1D protein may be produced by recombinant means, for example using a nucleic acid construct encoding the protein as provided herein. Also disclosed is an antibody specific for an epitope of PTP 1D, protein. Methods for identifying compounds which bind to a PTP 1D protein and inhibit or stimulate its enzymatic activity, pharmaceutical compositions comprising PTP 1D, and methods for treating a disease associated with PTP 1D protein using such compositions, are provided.

Abstract: A method for at least partially separating vitamin K-dependent blood clotting factors from a mixture containing at least one such factor, e.g. a prothrombin complex concentrate, which comprises adsorption of said mixture on to a chelate of a polyvalent metal immobilized on an inert support, e.g. Cu.sup.2 + -primed Chelating Sepharose, followed by elution to yield one or more fractions enriched in respect of one of said factors.
Abstract: The engineering of foreign vertebrate gene constructs by recombinant DNA techniques for the more efficient processing and secretion of foreign genes in insect systems is done by replacing the foreign vertebrate protein signal peptide sequences with protein signal sequences from insect cell secreted proteins. A baculovirus expression vector system is constructed wherein the natural signal DNA peptide sequence associated with the desired foreign gene, such as CD4 (T cell surface protein T4) is replaced by the signal DNA sequence from the insect signal peptides coding for the cuticle gene or adipokinetic hormone.
