Abstract: Instant messages sent by a viewer of a video while the video is perceivable to the viewer may be monitored. An event of interest occurring in the video may be identified based on the monitored instant messages. Metadata that describes the event of interest may be generated and assigned to the video. A request for video content associated with the video may be received from a user. An indexed collection of videos that includes the video may be searched for the requested video content. Based on the search, it may be determined that the video satisfies the user's request. The event of interest occurring in the video may be identified based on the metadata assigned to the video. User perception of a scene from the video that includes the event of interest may be enabled.

Abstract: The present invention provides a virtual channel table (VCT) data structure, transport stream discrimination method, and digital broadcast receiver, by which streams transferred within a channel can be identified with VCT only by extending a VCT syntax according to PSIP (program and system information protocol) of ATSC (advanced television systems committee) prescribed as a digital TV standard. The present invention adds the additional explanation (component name string) descriptor for the stream to the service location descriptor of the VCT, whereby various streams transferred over one channel can be uniquely identified. Therefore, the present invention enables a user of the digital broadcast receiver to select a stream more quickly.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of managing a reception state of data in a digital broadcasting system has monitoring functions of a cable network, a broadcasting channel and received data realized for a set-top box as a digital broadcasting receiver of the digital broadcasting system, and a notification message depending on generated reception error of the data is transmitted to a head end, thereby efficiently managing data transmission of the cable network, the broadcasting channel and each server of the head end.
