Abstract: A slide caliper of this disclosure includes: a fine adjustment measurement part including: a finger-press type rotation part; and a supporter, wherein the finger-press type rotation part includes: a roller part including two disks; and a roller shaft part, wherein at least a portion of inner surfaces of the two disks and the main scale come into contact with each other by frictional force, wherein the roller bearing part includes: an inclined surface along which the roller shaft part is movable when the measuring force is applied; and a stopper disposed at a position where the stopper and the roller shaft part come into contact with each other, and when the measuring force is applied, the frictional force with respect to the roller part is reduced as the roller shaft part moves along the inclined surface while contacting with the stopper to limit the measuring force.

Abstract: A foldable ruler includes a first ruler segment, a second ruler segment pivotally coupled to the first ruler segment, a third ruler segment pivotally coupled to the second ruler segment, and a fourth ruler segment pivotally coupled to the third ruler segment. Each of the first, second, third, and fourth ruler segments includes a first side surface and a second side surface opposite the first side surface. At least one of the first and second side surfaces includes a first set of indicia representing units of measurement. Each of the first, second, third, and fourth ruler segments also includes a top surface extending between the first and second side surfaces. The top surface of the fourth ruler segment includes a second set of indicia representing a plurality of angles.
Abstract: A hand-held tool for spacing clapboards that includes a speed square tongue located in the top center of the device. This feature allows a user to quickly and accurately transfer both horizontal and vertical lines, revealing material to be removed around doors and windows. There is a trigger mounted on the ergonomic handle that both locks the tongue in place for transferring horizontal lines, and releases the tongue for transferring vertical lines. Two trays are adjustable in ¼? increments that use pull pins under the trays. The trays can be adjusted for any board up to 10? in height. Desired overlap is achieved by adjusting the position of the bottom tray as desired. Finally a ruler is provided along the side of the tool. A second model that has no handle is also taught.
Abstract: An alignment tool and a method are disclosed for alignment of a reflector arrangement. The reflector arrangement comprises a flat reflective surface which is configured to reflect an electromagnetic wave signal between a first antenna site and a second antenna site. The alignment tool comprises a camera circuit for capturing images of a field-of-view, an input circuit configured to receive a user input comprising the field-of-view coordinates of the first antenna site, a processing circuit configured to compute alignment information from the user input, and a display circuit configured to display the field-of-view and the alignment information.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for the manufacture of body line templates, and for the use of those templates to repair the body lines of motor vehicle body panels. The present invention improves body line repair by restoring body lines more precisely and in the fraction of time it would typically take. Templates are often used in the industry to cut and forge body panels or body panel pieces, but not for repairing body lines. The original pattern for a body line template is made from an undamaged, perfectly contoured panel, such as a quarter panel, door panel or fender. The body line templates are used as a guide to restore the original shape of the body line on a damaged body panel. The templates are also used as a guide to more easily perfect the body lines by manipulating the applied body filler. In this way, repair time can be reduced by fifty, or as much as seventy-five, percent.
Abstract: A three-dimensional coordinate measurement apparatus capable of reducing shaking of a Y carriage and improving measurement accuracy. The Y carriage is supported by two strut members which are across a surface plate and movable in a Y-axis direction. The two strut members include a first strut member having a driving mechanism and a second strut member which moves following the first strut member. A guide portion parallel to the Y-axis direction is formed in the surface plate on a first strut member side. Side surface support members support the first strut member on the surface plate by holding both opposed side surfaces of the guide portion. The driving mechanism includes a roller having an axis perpendicular to a surface plate surface, and the roller is brought into contact with one side surface of the guide portion and rolled to move the Y carriage relatively to the surface plate.

Abstract: A post installation templating assembly for positioning fence posts for setting includes a bar and a pair of brackets. Each bracket is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from a respective opposing end of the bar. Each bracket is configured to selectively couple to a respective post to parallelly position a pair of posts perpendicularly to the bar. The bar is configured to fixedly separate the pair of posts so that the pair of posts can be set with a separation equivalent to a distance between the pair of brackets.
Abstract: A quilt stamps and quilt stamp sets can be used to simplify and expedite the process of cutting and sewing fabric pieces for a patchwork quilt. A quilt stamp can be formed of a transparent material in a desired shape. A stamping side of the quilt stamp includes parallel ridges that are offset from and extend along the outer edges of the shape. The outer ridge can be formed as a continuous ridge while the inner ridge can include repeating gaps thereby forming a dashed pattern. Both the outer and inner ridges can function to stamp lines onto fabric which define where to cut as well as where to sew the fabric.
Abstract: A device and method for measuring the amount of knee extension loss, hyperextension, or extensor length associated with arthritis, trauma, surgery or other medical conditions. This device and method includes measuring the difference in heel heights of a patient while patient is lying prone on a table with their legs, at the level of their knee caps, off the table. This device and method also measures extensor length in a patient's knee joint, by assessing heel height difference while a patient is lying prone on a table with a prone knee bend. This device and its methods provide accurate distance measurements that correlate to knee straightness and flexibility; these distinguishing metrics are unattainable by a standard “disc” goniometer. In addition, this device permits convenient measuring of a knee's mobility for two unique perspectives, namely in prone with legs straight or with a knee bent.
Abstract: Workpiece-holding tools and techniques are described. Workpiece-holding tools and techniques are usable to ensure consistent and durable alignment of various workpieces while providing access for performing attachment techniques thereon. In one example, the workpiece-holding tool is configured to allow objects to be held or removably affixed to an alignment surface. Holding objects with the workpiece-holding tool ensures that the alignment of objects with an alignment surface does not change while a user is operating upon a workpiece, e.g., as by joining aligned objects together, without interfering or obstructing access to the objects. The ability to hold objects is enhanced by the inclusion of cutouts that provide increased access to interior surfaces of the workpiece-holding tool, such as to increase the area available for use of clamps or other fastening devices.
Abstract: Optoelectronic measuring device having an electronic magnetic compass and a compensation device assigned to the magnetic compass for compensating device-fixed interference fields and is designed to occupy at least two defined, repeatable operating states and generates a different device-fixed interference field in each of the operating states. The measuring device is designed to occupy at least two defined, repeatable application states, the magnetic compass being exposed to a different external magnetic interference field in each of the application states. The compensation device being designed to measure a first, second and third magnetic field set in a first, second and third overall state of the measuring device, and to determine by means of the processing unit a first, second and third set of parameters based on the first, second and third magnetic field set respectively, and to derive a fourth parameter set based on the first, second and third parameter set.

Abstract: A method and system to measure a parameter associated with a component, device, or system with a specified accuracy, including: providing one or more sensors operably disposed to detect the parameter; obtaining a coarse measurement of the parameter within a first range using the one or more sensors, wherein the first range includes minimum and maximum values for the parameter; obtaining a fine measurement of the parameter within a second range using the one or more sensors, wherein the second range is smaller than the first range and has a specified ratio to the first range that provides the specified accuracy; determining a current value of the parameter by combining the coarse and fine measurements; and providing the current value of the parameter to a communications interface, a storage device, a display, a control panel, a processor, a programmable logic controller, or an external device.

Abstract: A portable coordinate measurement machine (CMM) includes an articulated arm including rotary joints. At least one of the rotary joints includes bearings; a shaft that engages an inner diameter of the bearings, the shaft configured to rotate about an axis of rotation of the bearings; a housing having at least one port that engages an outer diameter of at least one of the bearings; and at least one transducer configured to output an angle signal corresponding to an angle of rotation of the shaft relative to the housing about the axis of rotation. The shaft has two ends, the two ends may be concentric to within one tenth of thousands of an inch (0.0001?), or the at least one port of the housing may have no portion whose diameter is narrower than the outer diameter of the first bearing or the second bearing.
Abstract: The current disclosure describes components, systems, and methods for assessing the size and style of rain gutters. One embodiment is a kit that includes an extension rod and a plurality of measurement templates. The extension rod includes a pivotable head and a magnet. Each of the plurality of measurement templates includes a body and at least one metal component. The body of each measurement template is arranged such that it conforms to the inside or outside dimensions or contours of a rain gutter. The measurement templates are arranges to physically engage with rain gutters when assessing rain gutters. The measurement templates can assess K-style, half-round style, and fascia style rain gutters.
Abstract: A wall plate bracket includes integral straight edges used to quickly, easily and precisely define an area on a wall where a wall opening for the bracket is to be cut. The integral straight edges are formed along a top or bottom edge and a side edge of a generally rectangular front face plate of the bracket. The front face plate is held against a wall, and an L-shaped line is drawn along the straight edges. The bracket is then rotated 180 degrees and the ends of the straight edges are aligned at the ends of the previously drawn line. Another L-shaped line is then made or drawn along the straight edges, resulting in the two drawn L-shaped lines together forming a proper rectangle defining the wall opening to be cut.
