  • Patent number: 8943058
Abstract: In a database system having processing units, a request is received to calculate aggregates of multiple combinations of a given set of columns. The processing units are divided into multiple groups, where each of the multiple groups includes a corresponding subset of the processing units. Within each of the groups, data of each processing unit in the group is replicated to other one or more processing units in the group. Within each of the groups, aggregates of at least some of the multiple combinations of the given set of columns are calculated by the processing units in the group using the replicated data.

  • Patent number: 8935278
Abstract: A method for searching a web service registry system by use of a search controller. A first search of a service registry program product is performed with a service name received by the search controller from a user. It is determined that the received service name does not have a service description associated with the received service name in the service registry program product. A second search of the service registry program product is coordinated with a candidate service name by use of the search module, wherein the candidate service name is semantically and syntactically interchangeable with the received service name such that the candidate service name identifies the service description associated with the received service name within the service registry program product. The service description is discovered to be associated with the candidate service name within the service registry program product and is subsequently returned to the user.

  • Patent number: 8914339
Abstract: A data processing device (1) is installed in a data processing server (2) adapted to receive primary data and to transmit said primary data after application by control means (5) of dedicated processing based on primary rules. The device comprises, firstly, a first table (T1) in which are stored sets of at least one primary rule, called “primary metarules”, in a parameterizable form, in corresponding relationship to primary identifiers, and, secondly, management means (8) intended to be coupled to the control means (5) and adapted, on receipt of auxiliary data representing operating parameters delivered by the control means (5) after the reception by the server (2) of secondary data, to select at least one of the primary identifiers in the first table (T1) and associate the auxiliary data therewith in such a manner as to define the dedicated processes.

  • Patent number: 8856148
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining underplayed or overplayed items are provided herein. Instructions stored in memory are executed by a processor to: calculate short term scores for radio data and music identification service data of the items, determine linear distance and logarithmic distance between radio virtual radio plays per days on one million stations (VRPDOMS) and identification VRPDOMS of the items, identify and eliminate items lacking minimum requisite number of radio VRPDOMS or identification VRPDOMS, and sort the items by largest linear distance or largest logarithmic distance first. The sorted items are then transmitted to the computing device.

  • Patent number: 8812487
Abstract: Systems, methods, and media are disclosed herein that can be embodied in a traditional Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) in order to transform it into a Streaming Relational Database Management System (SRDBMS). An SRDBMS may provide functionality such as to manage and populate streams, tables, and archived stream histories and support the evaluation of continuous queries on streams and tables. Both continuous and snapshot queries support the full spectrum of the industry standard, widely used, Structured Query Language. The present technology can support a high number of concurrent continuous queries using a scalable and efficient shared query evaluation scheme, support on-the-fly addition of continuous queries into a mechanism that implements the shared evaluation scheme, reuse RDBMS modules such as relational operators and expression evaluators, and visualize results of continuous queries in real time.

  • Patent number: 8751480
Abstract: A generalized input/output application programming interface (API) may provide an interface to file related operations. As a result of using this API, users of the array-based programming language may be able to manipulate stored data as though the data were a virtual array loaded into memory. Users do not need to memorize a different API in order to access data which may be stored in different file or data formats. In addition, using this API simplifies the task of working with large data sets by giving users seamless access to the sections of data they want to operate on when the entire data is too large to be loaded into memory.

  • Patent number: 8706776
Abstract: A design-time status schema model is defined at design-time and includes a core status schema group and an. a status schema model. The status schema model includes a core status schema group and an extended status schema group. The status schema model also includes a precondition included in one of the status schema groups. The precondition identifies how a status affects whether an action included in the other of the status schema groups is to be allowed to be performed at runtime by a data object node instance having the status. Based on a status schema instance, the status of a data object node instance is monitored to determine whether the action is allowed to be performed by the data object node instance. In response to a determination that the action is allowed, enabling the action to be executed.

  • Patent number: 8560566
Abstract: A system and associated method for searching a web service registry system by use of a search controller. The web service registry system has components of the search controller, a service registry, a name parser, a dictionary, and a name composer. The search controller receives a service name from a user of the web service registry system. The service registry is searched with the service name to find a service description associated with the service name. If the service description is not found, the search controller coordinates another search with a candidate service name that substitutes the service name for searching the service registry. The candidate service name is generated by use of the name parser, the dictionary, and the name composer. The search controller discovers the service description associated with the candidate service name and returns to a user of the service registry system.

  • Patent number: 8554771
Abstract: A fast and efficient technique for hierarchical clustering of samples in a dataset includes compressing the dataset to reduce a number of variables within each of the samples of the dataset. A nearest neighbor matrix is generated to identify nearest neighbor pairs between the samples based on differences between the variables of the samples. The samples are arranged into a hierarchy that groups the samples based on the nearest neighbor matrix. The hierarchy is rendered to a display to graphically illustrate similarities or differences between the samples.

  • Patent number: 8543591
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating and sharing dataset segment schemes of a multidimensional dataset at a client device is disclosed. The client device displays a first filter definition template and an attribute list. Upon detecting a user selection of a first attribute, the client device displays the first attribute and one or more candidate filter conditions in the first filter definition template. Upon detecting a user selection of a first filter condition in the first filter definition template, the client device submits a segment scheme generation request to the server system and receives from the server system a first segment identifier; and displays a first segment link at the client device, the first segment link including the first segment identifier.

  • Patent number: 8463777
Abstract: Based on a content attribute serving as a coordinate axis of which the setting input is performed from an operation input unit, and the content identifier of a content of interest, a metadata storage unit is searched to select one or multiple other contents relating to the content of interest. The strength of relationship between each of the selected other contents and the content of interest is calculated based on the content attribute set as a coordinate axis, and information indicating correlation. The layout relations of other contents with the content of interest as the origin are calculated based on the content attribute serving as a coordinate axis, and the calculated strength of relationship. The display image of each of the other contents is disposed in accordance with the calculated layout relations.

  • Patent number: 8452738
Abstract: An imaging apparatus is capable of recording a first image file and a second image file which differs from the first image file in a recording format and which needs to be managed by a management file. The imaging apparatus includes an imaging unit that converts a subject optical image into an image signal, a signal processor that creates based on the image signal the first image file, or image data including the second image file and a management file associated with the second image file, and a controller that controls the signal processor. The controller checks consistency between the management file and the second image file, and controls the signal processor such that, when the management file is not consistent with the second image file, creation of the image data is inhibited but creation of the first image file is allowed.

  • Patent number: 8380676
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products feature selecting a file in a distributed file system. The file is associated with a time to live derived from a path name for the file. The file is divided into a plurality of chunks that are distributed among a plurality of servers. Each chunk has a respective modification time indicating when the chunk was last modified. A latest respective modification time among the respective modification times of each of the plurality of chunks is selected. A determination is made as to whether an elapsed time based on the latest modification time is equal to or exceeds the time to live. Each of the chunks of the file is deleted responsive to the determination. Other embodiments of this aspect include corresponding systems, apparatus, and computer program products.
