Patent number: 8254624Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing applications to access edited image data from an image editing application are disclosed herein. When the user desires to export edited images, the user causes the image editing application to display a plug-in user interface (UI). The plug-in UI may allow the user to enter exporting parameters, although this is not required. After the user selects an “export” button in the plug-in UI, the image editing application confirms with the plug-in on an image-by-image basis which of the images should be exported. The image editing application then generates an export version of the image. If necessary, the image editing application applies image adjustments to the master image to generate the export version. The image editing application then makes the export version available to the plug-in.Type: GrantFiled: July 4, 2011Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Blake R. Seely

Patent number: 8238602Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system to track and process the received postal items in their personal mailbox. The present invention resides inside the personal mailbox of a user. When mail item arrives in the mailbox, controller initiates the tiny robot arm to pick up the item and moves it to scanner and initiates the scanner to scan the item. Controller then collects associated entities of the received mail item using OCR and sends a notification to the user. An associated entity includes sender name and address and other information on the face of the mail item. If there is no sender address in the mail item then controller realizes that the received mail item is junk/unwanted and sends it to shredder using robot arm for trash.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2009Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Inventor: Johnson Manuel-Devadoss

Patent number: 8224071Abstract: Three-dimensional points acquired of an object in a sensor coordinate system are registered with planes modeling the object in a world coordinate system by determining correspondences between the points and the planes. Points are transformed to an intermediate coordinate system using the correspondences and transformation parameters. The planes are transformed to an intermediate world coordinate system using world rotation and translation parameters. Intermediate rotation and translation parameters are determined by applying coplanarity constraints and orthogonality constraints to the points in the intermediate sensor coordinate system and the planes in the intermediate world coordinate system. Then, rotation and translation parameters between the sensor and world coordinate systems are determined to register the points with the planes.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Srikumar Ramalingam, Yuichi Taguchi

Patent number: 8194918Abstract: A watermarking system uses distinct bit patterns to identify a logic 0, a logic 1, and a marker bit, which demarcates segments of logic bit information. Marker bits, which are printed on both foreground and background areas of an image, outline message blocks. In message extraction, a preprocessing step removes any white boarders, identifies the best defined corner of a message block, crops the image, and rotates the image to place the identified corner at the top-left corner. Message extraction scans the rotated image in window segments of increasing size during multiple cycles. During each cycle, if a bit pattern cannot be identified as a data bit, then the size of the examined bit area is increased and rechecked to see it specifically is a marker bit. If no bit information can be definitively identified, then it is assigned a logic bit value based on a 50% random assignment.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2010Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Mithun Das Gupta, Jing Xiao
