  • Patent number: 8254773
Abstract: An image apparatus includes a screen, a detecting unit, a determining unit, an acquiring unit and a control unit. The screen is configured to display an image formed by an optical system and at least one detection position superimposed onto the image. The detecting unit is configured to detect information regarding focus of the optical system at the detection position. The determining unit is connected to the detecting unit and configured to determine whether the information regarding the focus is within a predetermined range. The acquiring unit is connected to the determining unit and configured to acquire first image information at the detection position when the determining unit determines that the information regarding the focus is within the predetermined range. The control unit is connected to the acquiring unit and configured to evaluate arbitrary second image information in the screen using the first image information.

  • Patent number: 7912366
Abstract: Descriptive location information is associated with and displayed with a photograph taken on a wireless communication device. The descriptive location information is derived from raw location data received from a global positioning system (GPS) receiver in the wireless communication device. The raw location data is cross-referenced with descriptive location information contained within, for example, look-up tables in a memory of the device. The descriptive location information describes the location where the image was taken, for example, a city, a landmark, a distance from a city or landmark, and is visible to a user on the image displayed on a screen of the wireless device or another device.

  • Patent number: 5708316
Abstract: In an alternator for a vehicle having field coils for generating rotating magnetic field and stator coils for generating alternating current voltages in response to the rotating magnetic field, each of three stator coils are wound on only one of three stator teeth provided equi-angularly in a two pole-pitch of the rotor so that coil ends of the stator coils exposed outside the stator teeth do not cross each other. Thus, all the coil ends are cooled equally by the cooling air and a temperature rise of the stator coils is minimized. In order to reduce magnetic noise the stator coils are grouped. The first group of coils are provided in contact with a stator core and a second group of coils. The first and second group of coils are shifted from each other by .pi./3 radian in electrical angle.

  • Patent number: 5483112
Abstract: An improved rotor end winding assembly for an electrodynamic apparatus includes a stack of conductive straps that are configured to turn about an end turn portion of a rotor and include a top strap, a bottom strap and a number of intermediate straps that are stacked between the top strap and the bottom strap. A space defined between the rotor shaft and the bottom strap is divided into a high pressure zone and a low pressure zone by a zone block. A stepped coolant passage defined in the stack includes an ascending passage that leads from the high pressure zone toward the top strap and in the direction of the zone block and low pressure zone, and a descending passage that leads from the ascending passage to the low pressure zone. As a result, coolant will flow from the high pressure zone to said low pressure zone to efficiently cool said stack of straps.

  • Patent number: 5466979
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to reduce wear on surfaces in sliding contact by inducing vibratory movement in one or more of the surfaces. The movement is substantially perpendicular to a plane of contact between the surfaces and substantially nonuniform across the area of contact. The nonuniform vibratory motion of one surface with respect to another results in small rotational vibration of one surface with respect to another even as contact is maintained between the surfaces. Rotational motions tend to decrease surface wear due to thermal mounding by moving the zone of actual contact with time; rotational motions also open temporary gaps between the surfaces which allow the escape of wear particles, thus decreasing subsequent abrasive wear. The invention may be applied to sliding electrical contacts, either linear or rotating, and to sliding frictional contacts, as in brakes and clutches.
