  • Patent number: 6810257
Abstract: A wireless communication system is configured to allow for the provisioning of partitioned telecommunication service to subscribers. A wireless switch contains a partition table which associates a service provider with each wireless terminal which has the switch as its home switch. When providing telecommunication services to a subscriber using a wireless terminal, the switch provides such services using resources associated with the service provider associated with the subscriber. In one embodiment, such a resource may be a subscriber profile database such that multiple service providers maintain separate subscriber profile databases connected to the switch. The switch, upon determining the service provider associated with a subscriber requesting service, will retrieve the subscriber's profile from the subscriber database associated with the identified service provider. The switch then provides services in accordance with the retrieved profile.

  • Patent number: 6334056
Abstract: Secure access is provided for a limited access data network (intranet) to handheld electronic devices which include the functionality to process alphanumeric information and process information received in handheld device markup language (HDML). A handheld device user may first establish a connection with a data network such as the World Wide Web. Through use of a uniform resource locator (URL) request made over this data network, a connection is made to an intranet. At the firewall for the intranet, an identification process is performed to determine that the URL request originated from a handheld device. Such a request is routed through a socket designated for such requests and received by a proxy server. The proxy server provides the necessary security steps in order to provide access to applications within the intranet, and once validation has been confirmed, connection to the application is established.

  • Patent number: 6295005
Abstract: A radio selective-calling receiver that defers indication of receipt of a call for the receiver until after a further frame when the further frame is also for the receiver. A data separating section takes in demodulated signals by sampling. When the receiver's calling number exists in the received data, a controller waits until the next frame that is also an “own” frame, to output display signals or sound signals. Therefore, at the time when the own address is being received, the informing operation can be prevented and the receiving operation can be implemented in a more stable receiving state. As a result, the deterioration of the receiving sensitivity is prevented and the effect that the error of the receiving data is decreased can be obtained.
