  • Patent number: 9204353
Abstract: Various embodiments include methods, systems, and devices for tuning away a mobile device's receiver without retuning the mobile device's transmitter, thereby allowing the mobile device to monitor multiple networks with a single radio frequency (RF) chain while avoiding the problems often associated with tune-away methods, such as loss of throughput, loss of tracking or synchronization, delays in acknowledgments, delays in rate control or channel quality control feedback, etc. The transmitter may remain tuned to a first network while the receiver may be separately tuned to one or more other networks. In various embodiments, the separately tuned receiver may monitor for paging signals on one or more networks while the transmitter remains tuned to the first network and transmits data or control signals.

  • Patent number: 9178803
Abstract: A technique is disclosed, according to which a mobile node, having a plurality of interfaces and performing communication according to flow information when an operator is performing communication based on the flow information as defined by a policy, can select an interface suitable for the flow and can perform communication. According to this technique, a mobile node (MN 10) having a plurality of interfaces has a list to indicate domain limited flows to be transmitted only within a specific network (a trusted network), and a list to indicate the trusted networks. When a certain interface performs handover, and in case there is a domain limited flow that uses the interface, it is decided whether the network of handover destination is a trusted network or not, and in case the network of the handover destination is not a trusted network, it is decided whether it is possible or not to transmit and receive the domain limited flow via another interface that is connected to the trusted network.

  • Patent number: 9173077
Abstract: A method and nodes for enabling a client node such as a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) or Location Services (LCS) client to set up a communication to a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communications network. The method enables the client node to provide solutions that enable location aware non-voice based emergency services by means of new signalling and a new architecture. A text message may be sent from the UE to the client node via a network node, wherein the text message includes UE location information and a client indicator. The UE location information and the client indicator are then utilized to determine a client node which is most appropriate for communication with the UE.

  • Patent number: 9167454
Abstract: A wireless communication system has wireless base stations that serve wireless communication devices located in a plurality of wireless communication sectors. The wireless communication devices have wireless device types. The wireless base stations generate performance data that characterizes the performance of the wireless device types in the wireless communication sectors. A data processing system processes the performance data to associate an abnormal condition with one of the wireless device types in one of the wireless communication sectors. The data processing system generates notice data for the one or more wireless device types associated with an abnormal condition. The wireless base stations broadcast the notice data in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) System Information Block (SIB). The notice data identifies the wireless device type. The wireless communication devices decode the LTE SIB to identify the notice data and the wireless device type.
