  • Patent number: 8363814
Abstract: A system and method for automatically and seamlessly routing telephone calls across a telephone network. The system includes a telephone network interface box having a computer, a master file and client file stored in the computer. The master file is dynamically linked to the client file at routing time to produce a selected client location telephone number which is transmitted across the telephone network. In one embodiment, the system utilizes Automatic Number Identification to identify the calling party. The master file has a plurality of records having a telephone number and a spatial key and is updated frequently. The client file has a plurality of records having a spatial key and a client telephone number. Another embodiment utilizes a spatial coordinate of an instantaneous location of a caller's mobile device as an input to a real-time process which identifies one or more client service locations corresponding to the location of the caller's device.

  • Patent number: 7548523
Abstract: Techniques for dynamically configuring IP and providing IP connectivity for a terminal equipment attached to a wireless device are described. The wireless device obtains from a wireless network a dynamically assigned IP address, an IP gateway's IP address, a subnet mask, or none or any combination thereof. Wireless device determines a host IP address (which may be the dynamically assigned IP address), a router IP address (which may be the gateway IP address or a spoofed IP address), a server IP address (which may be the router IP address), and a subnet mask (which may be obtained from the wireless network or spoofed by the wireless device). Wireless device, acting as a DHCP server, provides IP configuration for the terminal equipment, acting as a DHCP client. Wireless device thereafter forwards IP packets exchanged between the terminal equipment and wireless network and processes DHCP packets from the terminal equipment.

  • Patent number: 7489677
Abstract: Since in a system of the invention comprising a TU portion 1b for accommodating general extension telephones 5 and PSTN 8, and a TM portion 1a for performing a call control with a packet network, call control information from the PSTN 8 and the like to the packet network is received by the TU portion 1b and then transferred to the TM portion 1a and converted into call control data adapted to the packet network, and voice data from the PSTN 8 and the like to the packet network is received by the TU portion 1b and then converted into voice data adapted to the packet work, it is possible to use a packet network such as the Internet, convert voice data into IP packet data and thereby provide a communication service equivalent to a conventional circuit switching service at low cost.

  • Patent number: 7489773
Abstract: Audio conferencing is carried out in stereo by centrally assigning a position in the stereo spectrum (either bipolar stereo or surround sound) and instructing each conference endpoint to transmit at the stereo position assigned to it. In this way signals from a number of endpoints can be simply added to one another in order to provide a composite broadcast signal. This method also facilitates multiple server conferences in which endpoints attached to additional conference servers can be instructed to change their virtual stereo position in the case of a conflict with the stereo position of an existing conferee.

  • Patent number: 7480285
Abstract: Access points of a system are located either in a packet transmission network or at interfaces connecting switching units provided with gateways with the packet network. Call servers store context data concerning terminals connected to the system through the access points. When a communication path is set up through a gateway to connect first and second terminals, the servers associate an addressing resource of the gateway in the packet network with a portion of the path providing the connection with the first terminal and an addressing resource of the gateway in the switching means with a second portion providing the connection with the second terminal, and store, in the context data concerning the second terminal, an identification of said addressing resource of the gateway in the packet network.

  • Patent number: 7474627
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing wireless data packet call regulation and call access for wireless Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications in a wireless network. A first and second time stamp is generated upon the reception and successful transmission of a data packet. A packet delay is determined based upon the first and second time stamps. At least one average delay metric is used to determine whether to provide new call access based on the at least one average delay metric. Another aspect of the present invention is to block a class of users based, in part, on the average sector delay for each user subscriber class. If the average sector delay is greater than that allowed for a class of users, users of that class are denied access. A delay quality of service (QoS) block metric is used to determine if an individual user should be force dropped.

  • Patent number: 7471672
Abstract: An IFAX IP telephone connects a call to an opposing IFAX IP telephone via the Internet, and executes a voice call process that exchanges voice packets with the connected opposing IFAX IP telephone. When transmitting an image data to the opposing IFAX IP telephone during the voice call to the same telephone, an IFAX packet is generated, the packet having the opposing IFAX IP telephone as the destination. The IFAX packet is transmitted, while prioritizing the voice packet transmission.

  • Patent number: 7468984
Abstract: The present invention enables network providers to create peering arrangements with other providers that allow them to fail over to other networks in the event of a site failure. This invention would lower the cost to provide site diversity within a provider's network by allowing cost sharing between the provider's network and other networks. For example, when an Application Server (AS) in a network fails, the network provider can send a call to a partner's network and uses an AS in the partner's network to process the call request.

  • Patent number: 7469046
Abstract: A telecommunications network system and method is presented incorporating a distributed feature composition (DFC) architecture, offering new technology for feature specification and composition. In the network architecture of the invention, customer calls are processed by dynamically assembled configurations of filter-like components: each component implements an applicable feature, and communicates with its neighbors by featureless internal calls that are connected by the underlying architectural substrate. Features are coherently accumulated, and the problem of feature interaction is rendered much more tractable.

  • Patent number: 7463730
Abstract: A system includes a computer workstation associated with an agent of a call center and a subsystem that includes automatic call distributor (ACD) functions for connecting a caller to the computer workstation of the agent, the subsystem being connected with a device of the caller via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. The agent transmits a first message over the IP network to a device of the caller during the call. The first message contains notes electronically recorded by the agent. Prior to or coincident with an end of the call, the caller sends a second message back to the system confirming the agent's notes. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 CFR 1.72(b).

  • Patent number: 7460859
Abstract: A system and method for determining the status of an authorization device over a network. Output signals indicative of the status of the authorization device are stored in a ticket file. An authorization datastore accesses the ticket file over the first network and obtains the status of the authorization device. A determination is made from the user identifier if the user is authorized to access a ticketed venue. Permission is granted to the user to access the ticketed venue if the user is determined to meet access requirements.

  • Patent number: 7460508
Abstract: Methods for establishing a cluster-based multi-party conference and for carrying on the conference as participants join or leave the conference are provided. First, two or more terminals participating to the conference are joined in a cluster, wherein one of them is elected as a super member of the cluster. The other terminal is updated with the identity of the super member terminal, the identification of the conference, and with cluster parameters including a split value Sv indicative of a maximum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when the split value Sv is reached during the conference, the cluster is split; and a merge value Mv indicative of a minimum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when the merge value Mv is reached during the conference, the cluster is merged with another cluster. A method for splitting the cluster, and a method for merging two clusters are also provided.
