  • Patent number: 4684951
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the day-or-night monitoring of weather phenomena by means of the analysis of the movements of air masses, wherein the movements are determined by monitoring and receiving the multi-band VLF electromagnetic radiation generated in the atmosphere with directionally selective receivers. The received frequencies are then compared with values which have been correlated with atmospheric events. Means are provided for displaying the predictive results for events occurring up to 500 km away from the VLF receivers--typically updatable within seconds--in at least two stages according to the (near or far) range desired or the type of electrical polarization.

  • Patent number: 4647935
Abstract: An apparatus for tracking phase discontinuities introduced into a received signal at known instants is disclosed. The phase discontinuities are introduced into the received signal by command signals derived from a system timing reference. A controlled oscillator generates an output signal at the same frequency as the received signal. The controlled oscillator introduces into the output signal a phase jump having a magnitude and timing determined by a control signal applied to its input. A synchronous detector responsive to phase jumps in the received signal generates the control signal so as to introduce a phase jump into the output signal at the known instants equal in magnitude and sign to the detected phase jumps. The controlled oscillator and synchronous detector constitute a delta phase tracking loop which is capable of tracking the discontinuities in phase.

  • Patent number: 4631454
Abstract: A quasi-resonant random access deflection system includes a biresonant, bidirectional deflection circuit connected to the deflection yoke of a display monitor picture tube and a control circuit connected to the deflection circuit and being operable to generate signals to actuate the deflection circuit so as to cause, via the magnetic fields of the deflection yoke, selected movement of the electron beam of the picture tube along a bidirectional path and stopping of the beam at any position along the bidirectional path.
