Abstract: A method of coupling organic and inorganic cosmetic materials is disclosed. Spherical shaped powders have beneficial characteristics as applied to cosmetics. These characteristics include uniform reflectivity, improved dispersion and superior viscosity characteristics in the final product. Coupling inorganic pigments to organic microspheres provides the benefits associated with the microspheres and allows a greater loading of inorganics into a cosmetic without sacrificing the benefits of the microspheres.
Abstract: The activity of a thiazolinone preservative, in an anti-dandruff shampoo containing pyrithione, is maintained by adding a stabilizer comprising a zinc compound.
Abstract: A stick shaped lipstick composition which comprises a higher loading of cosmetic powders than those available in prior art compositions is disclosed. The composition includes between about 10% and about 65% of at least one cosmetic powder. At least one low viscosity liquid carboxylic acid ester, present in a concentration of between about 10% and about 65%, is also included. A third component of the composition is at least one high viscosity surface oil included in an amount of between about 1% and about 18%. The composition additionally comprises between about 2% and about 15% of at least one plasticizing agent. All of the above mentioned percentages are by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. The high concentration of cosmetic powder provides a unique finish, texture and feel lipstick heretofore unavailable in convenient stick shape.

Abstract: Provided by the invention are methods and compositions for increasing the growth rate and feed efficiency of turkeys by administration of an effective amount of the intermediate synthesis compound 19-nortestosterone. It has also been found that the invention provides increased muscle mass in the resulting turkey carcasses with a decreased percentage of fat mass and substantially no increase in skeletal growth over that of control turkeys.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to collagen membranes having physical and biological properties which make them extremely suitable and desirable for all types of medical uses, particularly as a periodontal barrier. The membranes are characterized by having a surface roughness morphology similar to leather and are translucent. Moreover, these membranes do not swell appreciably upon being wetted so as to maintain their overall bulk density. Methods for preparing these membranes and applications for their use are also disclosed.
Abstract: A cosmetic ingredient homogenization agent, for use in assisting and improving the homogenization of the cosmetic ingredients of a compacted powder, is a combination of the following three components: x weight percent of hollow microspheres of a thermoplastic synthetic material having a specific mass lower than 0.1 g/cm.sup.3 and having a size lower than 30 .mu.m; y weight percent of particles of hexagonal boron nitride; and z weight percent of particles of N-acyl lysine. x, y and z are numbers which vary, respectively, as follows: x: 0.2-30; y: 02.-90; and z: 8-99.78. The sum x+y+z=100. This homogenization agent can be incorporated into a cosmetic composition in the form of a compacted powder in an amount ranging from 1-55, preferably 10-35, percent by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
