Patent number: 5199863Abstract: A rotary piston internal combustion engine of trochoidal type of construction with a piston slidably journalled and controlled via a synchronous transmission gear drive unit. An eccentric bearing of the piston is sealed-off on both sides of the remaining machine chambers or spaces with sealing rings located around the eccentric shaft. Circulation of the lubricating oil and cooling oil that is under pressure being delimited as to this bearing and the cooling hollow chambers of the piston with such lubricating oil and cooling oil being kept away from the working chambers and also eliminating any oil inner seals otherwise required therewith.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1990Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Assignee: Wankel GmbHInventor: Dankwart Eiermann

Patent number: 5154593Abstract: A device for improving the starting response of a vane pump and for reducing the power loss during a high speed operation of the pump. The vane pump includes a rotor formed with slits, in which slits vanes are slidably disposed. To drive the respective vanes into abutment against a cam ring, a pair of plates which hold the rotor and the cam ring sandwiched therebetween are formed with a plurality of arcuate grooves, into which a discharged oil is introduced. Rather than providing a narrow groove formed in the same plate as that in which the arcuate grooves are formed to provide a communication therebetween, an annular groove is formed in the lateral surface of the rotor to replace the narrow groove or in addition to the narrow groove, and is constructed so that the narrow groove is interrupted by the vanes as the vanes retract, the annular groove providing a communication between the arcuate grooves when a respective vane is driven radially outwardly.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1991Date of Patent: October 13, 1992Assignee: Jidosha Kiki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Konishi, Junkichi Odai

Patent number: 5055015Abstract: A seal structure comprises a combination of a dynamic seal assembly which is active while a rotary body is rotating and a static seal assembly which is active while the rotary body is not rotating. The dynamic seal assembly includes a seal member mode of low friction material. On the other hand, the static seal assembly has an elastically deformable seal member. A rotary receptacle bore has two different diameter sections. The dynamic seal assembly is designed and sized to be installed in a smaller diameter section of the bore and the static seal assembly is designed and sized to be installed in a larger diameter section. The seal structure is assembled by inserting the dynamic seal between the smaller diameter bore section via the larger diameter section. Subsequently, the static seal is inserted into the larger diameter section.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1989Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Atsugi Motor Parts Company, LimitedInventor: Naoto Furukawa

Patent number: 5039287Abstract: A compressor in which the portion of the suction tube within the housing is rectilinear with a constant diameter and has an internal or external insulating tube, the suction tube being arranged through a positioning socket which is attached to the front cover of the compressor housing and extends inside and outside the housing with the positioning socket outer end being welded around the suction tube at a point away from the housing front cover and from the insulating tube inlet end within the compressor housing.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1989Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Assignee: Empresa Brasileira de Compressores S/A-EmbracoInventor: Caio M. Patent number: 5032069Abstract: A hydraulic device has an inner rotor of cylindrical section mounted eccentrically within an outer rotor of tubular section. Angularly spaced axially extending ribs of part-circular cross-section are provided on the inner rotor and correspondingly spaced axial recesses of part-circular cross-section are provided on the opposed surface of the outer rotor, the ribs meshing with the recesses over an arcuate working zone in which a plurality of adjacent ribs engage corresponding recesses, the ribs moving relative to but in engagement with the recesses as they progress through the working zone. A baffle is located between the rotors to provide a seal therebetween outside the working zone and an inlet port is provided to the working zone adjacent the termination thereof relative to the direction of rotation of the rotors while an outlet port is provided adjacent the center of the working zone, the inlet and outlet ports being separated by at least the pitch of the ribs on the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1989Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Assignee: Jaguar Cars LimitedInventor: Bryan N. V. Parsons

Patent number: 5018953Abstract: The center of gravity of a retaining pin which is struck into a retaining-pin receiving hole to join a rotor barrel with a rotor shaft is eccentrically positioned toward the leading end of the pin beyond the axis of the shaft so that upon rotation of the rotor, the pin is forced to thrust toward the bottom of the hole by the centrifugal force, thereby preventing the pin from pulling out of the hole.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1990Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Assignee: Ishikawajima-Harima Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hidetsugu Matsubara, Yuichi Iguchi, Shinya Tanaka, Kazuya Miyashita
