  • Patent number: 7215449
Abstract: Computer-based, anti-clipping, pre-printing, color-image correction via virtual color-parameter controllers that are provided within the graphic user interface of a print drier. Parameters accommodated include Red, Green and Blue offset, Lightness offset, Gamma and Chroma. Chroma modifications are handled preliminarily by a special mathematical matrix. In one embodiment of the invention, matrix-processed Chroma values are directly inserted into an algorithm, and are then co-processed with other parameter modifications within an anti-clipping, hyperbolic-tangent-function (asymptotic-like) algorithm which implements an asymptotic-like approach toward creating final pixel modification values that avoid range-limit color and/or tone-scale clipping. In another embodiment of the invention, matrix-processed Chroma values are additionally inserted in to such an algorithm as components of a pair of like cubic terms. These cubic terms function to enhance asymptotic behavior of the algorithm in certain situations.

  • Patent number: 7212309
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automatically adjusting printing settings to optimize the fit of text, data and/or images on printed pages. Once selected text or data is designated for printing, a determination is made as to whether the selected text or data may be printed on a single page or whether multiple pages are required. The best fit of the text or data on a single or multiple pages is accomplished by incrementally adjusting a number of different print settings until an optimum fit of the text or data is achieved on a single page or on a set of pages. Print settings include margins, scale, and orientation.

  • Patent number: 7196824
Abstract: In an image processing apparatus of the present invention, an F code indicating a location in which facsimile data received from outside is stored, and a mail address of a computer apparatus connected to a network, associated with the F code, are set. If the facsimile data is received along with the F code, the apparatus creates and sends a receipt mail reporting to the mail address associated with the F code that the facsimile data has been received. The apparatus accepts a mail including instructions concerning processing on the received facsimile data, and processes the facsimile data in accordance with the instructions.

  • Patent number: 7193735
Abstract: This invention provides an environment in which, for example, even when the operation mode shifts to a specific one after a standby state for a predetermined time, a discharge tray corresponding to this operation mode functions to smoothly perform the next operation. For this purpose, if the standby state continues even upon the lapse of an auto-clear setting time, the operation mode shifts to a set specific one, and movement of a discharge tray corresponding to this operation mode is controlled.

  • Patent number: 7170615
Abstract: An image processing device includes: (1) a scanner unit for inputting image data; (2) an image memory for storing the image data; (3) a machine control board for confirming the characteristics of the image data; (4) a binary image processing section for performing image processing with respect to the image data; (5) an operation key group for setting a processing mode of the binary image processing section; and (6) a main-CPU for managing (i) the characteristics of each image data confirmed by the machine control board and (ii) a processing mode set by the operation key group, as management information, with reference to the corresponding image data stored in the image memory. The binary image processing section performs image processing with respect to the image data according to the management information managed by the main-CPU.

  • Patent number: 7170620
Abstract: The technique of the present invention facilitates execution of proof printing, prior to main printing. In a printing system constructed via a network LAN, a printer PRT includes a job management apparatus that manages statuses of print jobs in conformity with International Standard ISO/IEC10175-1. The job management apparatus has a proofComplete control module 6 in addition to diverse functional blocks for processing the print jobs based on the International Standard. The proofComplete control module 6 functions to hold a print job with attribute information representing proof printing after conclusion of proof printing. Separate management of the print job with the proof printing attribute enables a single print job to be utilized for both proof printing and main printing. This arrangement effectively enhances the utility.

  • Patent number: 5464583
Abstract: A process for manufacturing Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 /SiAlON whiskers by mixing silicon carbide powder with aluminum nitride powder, adding impurities such as calcium oxide or potassium chloride to control whisker characteristics, forming the mixture in a boron nitrogen mold of desired shaped and hot isostatically pressing the formed mixture in a nitrogen environment to produce whiskers comprised substantially of SiAlON at the nucleating end of the whisker and Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 at the other end of the whisker. In one embodiment, reinforced composites are formed by impregnating the Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 /SiAlON whisker preform with a matrix material such as resin binders, liquid metals, intermetallics or ceramic materials.
