  • Patent number: 4874299
Abstract: A precision pump for moving small volumes of fluid includes an electromagnet in which is reciprocally mounted an armature carrying a diaphragm on one end such that upon reciprocal movement of the armature an alternating high and low pressure can be created in a pumping chamber to move fluid through the pump. In one embodiment of the pump, the electromagnet drives the armature in one direction and a spring returns the armature to effect the reciprocating movement while in a second embodiment a pair of electromagnets are axially aligned and cooperate with a pair of magnets on the armature to alternately move the armature in a linear reciprocating motion as current is alternately applied to the electromagnets.

  • Patent number: 4871304
Abstract: A compressor includes a cylinder, and a rotating body located in the cylinder. A spiral groove is formed on the outer periphery of the rotating body. A spiral blade is fitted in the groove and divides the space between the inner periphery of the cylinder and the outer periphery of the rotating body into operating chambers which have volumes gradually decreasing with distance from one end of the cylinder. When the cylinder and rotating body are relatively rotated, a fluid, introduced into the one end of the cylinder, is transported toward the other end of the cylinder through the operating chambers.

  • Patent number: 4867645
Abstract: A switch mechanism for controlling a motor that runs a well pump. Water line pressure acts on a diaphragm to pressurize an air chamber that communicates with a pressure switch. The switch components are isolated from the water line (by the air chamber), to minimize the possiblity of switch failure due to ice formation (winter time operations) or corrosion.

  • Patent number: 4863070
Abstract: A metering pump for discharging metered quantities of liquid and/or low viscosity materials, in particular pasty materials, on bottle-type or can-type containers has a bellows sealed between two coaxial housing parts of dimensionally stable plastic. The housing parts are telescopically movable relative to one another, and provided at each of its two ends with respective inlet and outlet pump valves. Each pump valve has an axially mobile closing element. On its discharge end, the bellows has an integrally molded annular valve seat face, provided with a passage orifice, for a spring-loaded closing element. A bellows seal includes an annular wall surface disposed against a pipe attachment which is integrally molded to a first housing part. The first housing part is provided with a discharge spout and is supported at its end face on an annular shoulder of the bellows.

  • Patent number: 4856617
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the amount of lubricant dispensed in a railway lubricating system wherein a test cycle is effected during which lubricant is dispensed in a test amount to detect the influence of lubricant viscosity on the system, and wherein further dispensing cycles are effected to sequentially dispense an accurate and desired amount of lubricant in conformity with the detected influence of lubricant viscosity.

  • Patent number: 4856969
Abstract: A hydraulically activated diaphragm pump. A pressure source is coupled to a pump diaphragm during a pump discharge stroke. During this discharge stroke, an air activated return assist cylinder is vented to atmosphere. On the return stroke the pump housing above the diaphragm is vented and the air cylinder activated. A single 4-way solenoid actuated valve controlled by an adjustable timer accomplishes this cylic pumping action. The timer is adjustable to set the number of pump cycles per minute and also adjusts the discharge stroke period of each cycle. A pressure regulator adjusts the pressure of air routed through the solenoid actuated valve to provide relatively high pressure air to the diaphragm on the discharge and low pressure air to the air cylinder on the return stroke.
