  • Patent number: 12375755
Abstract: Presented here is a method and system of operating set-top boxes with clients in a network that includes configuring a set-top box (STB) to reconnect to a client that exits from a streaming session. The method includes executing a streaming data from the STB to the client and in response to the client exiting the streaming session, maintaining the streaming session in the active state after the client has exited. Further continuing to transcode audio/video data after the client has exited and relinquishing audio/video data that is continuously transcoded and received in the streaming session up until a defined period. Thereafter, upon receiving a request by the client to reconnect, identifying the client for reconnection to the exited client from the streaming session and linking the client seamlessly so the client resumes reception of the streamed data without any interruption in the transcode of the AV data.

  • Patent number: 12375758
Abstract: Techniques for a smartphone-based conditional access (CA) system are described. In some embodiments, a headend in the CA system obtains a security profile associated with a pair of receiving devices used by a user, e.g., a first device (e.g., a smartphone) and a second device (e.g., a set-top-box or a TV). The headend dynamically regulates user access to requested media content during each entitlement period by assigning and distributing separate keys to the first and second device based on the security profile. The headend also uses the distributed keys to protect the media content before broadcasting. On the receiving end, one receiving device receives the media content and determines whether it is decryptable by the device. If decryptable, the receiving device (e.g., the set-top-box/TV) decrypts the media content using the keys assigned by the headend. Otherwise, the receiving device forwards the media content to the pairing device for decryption.

  • Patent number: 12363364
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining if end-users are expected to be receiving transmissions from a multimedia network at a particular time. Data including end-user type, a multimedia network, a particular time slot of the repeating cycles, and a network reach descriptor may be received. End-users may be identified by end-user type. For each end-user, a probability of receiving transmissions from the multimedia network during time slots prior to the particular time slot may be determined, based on previous viewing activities. Each probability may be adjusted by an offset such that an average of the adjusted probabilities corresponds to the network reach descriptor. A determination may be made of whether or not each end-user is expected to have been receiving transmissions from the multimedia network at the particular time slot, based on the adjusted respective probability.

  • Patent number: 12363390
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a time period in which video files will be delivered through a plurality of nodes. The method determines a plurality of user accounts that may use a video delivery system to deliver the video files in the time period; generates probabilities of which nodes may be used for each of the plurality of user accounts in the time period; and generates probabilities of which video files may be accessed by each of the plurality of user accounts. A list of video files is generated for a node based on the probabilities of which video files may be accessed and the probabilities of which nodes may be used for each of the plurality of user accounts. The method causes at least a portion of the list of video files for the node to be stored on the node.

  • Patent number: 12328373
Abstract: A server network accepts asynchronous notification messages from multiple application servers and efficiently routes notification messages in the form of notification taps to a user device, which can operate in a low power mode. The user device may or may not be a cellular device. The server network maintains states for the user devices in terms of identifiers useful for routing. A network server proximate to the user device registers the identifiers useful for routing the notifications. When the server network receives a notification from a source application, the proximate network server determines a routing based on the registration and sends a notification tap to the user device. The user device can obtain notification content sourced by the source application. The user device can delegate the role of receiving notification taps to a delegate device, where the delegate device may have wall-power and/or a wired or wireless network connection.

  • Patent number: 12294761
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for distributed DCP over internet. A client-side digital content delivery device receives a digital cinema package (DCP) for a digital movie from a remote digital content delivery system. The DCP includes a unique digital watermark applied by the content delivery system. In response to receiving an input to cause playback of the digital movie, the client-side digital content delivery device compares a unique device identifier for a display device paired to the client-side digital content delivery device to an authorized unique identifier. If the unique device identifier matches the authorized unique identifier, the client-side digital content delivery device uses the DCP to causes presentation of the digital movie by the display device paired to the client-side digital content delivery device.

  • Patent number: 12177503
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining projected amounts of viewing time of a TV program by end-users are disclosed. Data including end-user type, a TV program descriptor, TV network, and start time of transmission may be received. End-users may be identified by end-user type. A machine-learning model applied to the data and viewing history data may generate parameters for determining how much of the TV program they are each expected to view during a sequence of time intervals. For each end-user, the parameters may be applied to make a determination of temporal-fraction values of the TV program the end-user is expected to view during the time interval, and for each time interval, conditioning values used to condition the determination for the next time interval. Projected subtotals of viewing time may be determined, based on the temporal-fraction values. A projected total amount viewing time of the TV program may then be determined.
