  • Patent number: 4390105
Abstract: An electrical outlet box having improved mounting means for enabling the box to be mounted in an opening of a wall with the open front of the box being essentially flush with the front face of the wall. The mounting means includes a pair of mounting elements extending outwardly from the open front of the box for engaging the front face of the wall together with a U-shaped resilient clamping member which is mounted exteriorly of the box so as to span the box with a connecting or base portion and two depending legs which extend therefrom toward the open front of the box with the legs adapted to engage the rear face of the wall surrounding the opening therein. A connection device, such as a screw, interconnects the floor of the box with the leg connecting portion of the clamp and it serves to vary the distance between the floor of the box and the connecting portion of the clamp to cause the leg portions to move toward the front thereof and engage the rear side of the wall.

  • Patent number: 4384602
Abstract: A flexible material apparatus for carrying an article retained by an article receiving means, comprising a carrying member adapted for attachment to the article receiving means and having a hollow tube of flexible airtight material being partially pneumatically inflated to provide a pliant carrying member. One embodiment includes the article receiving means comprising a receptacle, such as a bag, having hermetically sealed and pneumatically inflatable bottom and end panels. The carrying member includes a flexible material handle attached to the end panels having fluid communication with the panels so that partial pneumatic inflation of the handle and panels is permitted, whereby carrying an article in the bag causes air to be displaced from one or more of the panels to cause the handle to become turgid. In another embodiment, a pair of handles is attached to the side panels, which are also hermetically sealed to provide fluid communication between each panel and handle.

  • Patent number: 4381061
Abstract: This invention relates to a plastic or thermoplastic container designed to exhibit non-paneling of its sidewall due to reduction in pressure within the container. The container itself is provided with a yieldable bottom endwall especially constructed to compensate against the effects of reduced internal pressures often experienced after sealing hot fluids and the like. The thermoplastic container herein described is capable of being filled and sealed without paneling or deformation of its sidewall, said bottom endwall being displaceable inwardly, in preference to the sidewall, upon a relative reduction of pressure in the container, said bottom endwall comprising an outer frustoconical surface extending downwardly and inwardly from said sidewall toward the longitudinal axis of the container at an angle between about 5.degree. and 30.degree.

  • Patent number: 4380290
Abstract: A container for shipping and storing articles, particularly elongated articles such as (for example) snow skis, the container being defined by a preformed, elongated housing. Siidably disposed within the housing is an adjustable partition to provide various sizes of storage compartments, the size depending upon the length of the article being stored therein. The selective positioning of the partition will further provide a secondary storage compartment. This selective positioning is established by an elongated strap member attached to the partition and looped about the inner and outer surfaces of the housing passing through each end member, so as to be adjustably secured on the outer surface thereof, thereby securing the partition in place. The strap further defines a handle for carrying the container.

  • Patent number: 4376597
Abstract: A diaphragm seal assembly for large tubes such as used as supporting legs in offshore platforms and pile drivers in underwater environments, with the diaphragm seal closure constructed to resist loads retained in such manner as to be nearly completely removed by upward tension pull on a pull-out cable. The diaphragm seal assembly is retained between rings welded inside a tubular member by a split ring forced apart to a retaining diameter by a removable key. Pull on a cable removes the key allowing the split ring to return to its initial smaller diameter size small enough to be removed up out of the tube along with the diaphragm closure member.
