  • Patent number: 9866864
Abstract: A motion vector predictor candidate constructing unit performs prediction based on a motion vector of one of coded blocks neighboring a coding target block in the same picture as the coding target block, constructs a plurality of motion vector predictor candidates, and adds the motion vector predictor candidates to a motion vector predictor candidate list. A motion vector predictor candidate number limiting unit limits the number of motion vector predictor candidates added to the motion vector predictor candidate list to a maximum candidate number according to a size of a prediction block. A motion vector predictor selecting unit selects a motion vector predictor from the motion vector predictor candidate list. A coding unit codes information representing an index of the selected motion vector predictor in the motion vector predictor candidate list.

  • Patent number: 9848189
Abstract: A merging motion information candidate list construction unit generates a merging motion information candidate list, which is a list of merging motion information candidates, using a spatial merging motion information candidate and a temporal merging motion information candidate. A second merging motion information candidate supplying unit generates a new merging motion information candidate including, if a reference index indicates an available reference picture, the reference index and, if the reference index does not indicate an available reference picture, a predetermined reference index along with a motion vector having a size and a direction that are preset and adds the new merging motion information candidate to the merging motion information candidate list. A merging motion information selection unit selects one merging motion information candidate from the merging motion information candidate list to which the new merging motion information candidate has been added.

  • Patent number: 9848187
Abstract: A merging motion information calculating unit calculates motion information of a plurality of coded neighboring blocks located at predetermined positions neighboring to a coding target block in space as spatial motion information candidates of the coding target block, in a case where there are spatial motion information candidates having the same motion information out of the spatial motion information candidates, sets one of the spatial motion information candidates having the same motion information as the spatial motion information candidate and, calculates a temporal motion information candidate of the coding target block by using the motion information of a coded block included in a picture that is different in time from a picture including the coding target block, and includes the spatial motion information candidates and the temporal motion information candidate in candidates for the motion information.

  • Patent number: 9756330
Abstract: Although wedgelet-based partitioning seems to represent a better tradeoff between side information rate on the one hand and achievable variety in partitioning possibilities on the other hand, compared to contour partitioning, the ability to alleviate the constraints of the partitioning to the extent that the partitions have to be wedgelet partitions, enables applying relatively uncomplex statistical analysis onto overlaid spatially sampled texture information in order to derive a good predictor for the bi-segmentation in a depth/disparity map. Thus, in accordance with a first aspect it is exactly the increase of the freedom which alleviates the signaling overhead provided that co-located texture information in form of a picture is present. Another aspect pertains the possibility to save side information rate involved with signaling a respective coding mode supporting irregular partitioning.

  • Patent number: 9749622
Abstract: The way of predicting a current block by assigning constant partition values to the partitions of a bi-partitioning of a block is quite effective, especially in case of coding sample arrays such as depth/disparity maps where the content of these sample arrays is mostly composed of plateaus or simple connected regions of similar value separated from each other by steep edges. The transmission of such constant partition values would, however, still need a considerable amount of side information which should be avoided. This side information rate may be further reduced if mean values of values of neighboring samples associated or adjoining the respective partitions are used as predictors for the constant partition values.

  • Patent number: 9749651
Abstract: In accordance with a first aspect, the intra prediction direction of a neighboring, intra-predicted block is used in order to predict the extension direction of the wedgelet separation line of a current block, thereby reducing the side information rate necessitated in order to convey the partitioning information. In accordance with a second aspect, the idea is that previously reconstructed samples, i.e. reconstructed values of blocks preceding the current block in accordance with the coding/decoding order allow for at least a prediction of a correct placement of a starting point of the wedgelet separation line, namely by placing the starting point of the wedgelet separation line at a position of a maximum change between consecutive ones of a sequence of reconstructed values of samples of a line of samples extending adjacent to the current block along a circumference thereof. Both aspects may be used individually or in combination.

  • Patent number: 9743104
Abstract: In inter prediction that is performed by partitioning a first block, which is obtained by partitioning each picture, into one or more second blocks, a spatial merge candidate generating unit derives a spatial merge candidate without referring to a block included in a first block that includes a second block. In case of a mode where a coding block is divided by a horizontal border into prediction blocks arranged vertically, the reference index derivation unit of a time merge candidate sets reference index information of a time merge candidate to a value of reference index information of an encoded prediction block adjacent to a left edge of a prediction block subject to encoding.

  • Patent number: 9742525
Abstract: The present invention relates to transmission and reception of digital broadcast in a digital broadcast network supporting a configuration of multiple physical layer pipes (PLPs). In particular, signalling parameters relating to a complete PLP are transmitted within layer 1 signalling related to the PLP. The baseband frames mapped on the pipe are configured according to this layer 1 signalling in the same way at the transmitter as they are demapped on the receiver side. The baseband frames are transmitted and received without including these parameters, in particular, at least one of parameters indicating (i) an input stream format, (ii) a single or a multiple input stream, (iii) constant or adaptive coding and modulation, (iv) presence of input stream synchronization, (v) presence of null packet deletion, or (vi) input stream identifier.

  • Patent number: 9741109
Abstract: An imaging device inserted into an opening of a tire includes a light source, a mirror, and a camera and is configured so that the mirror revolves around a rotation shaft while an orientation of a surface of the mirror changes. The mirror is set in an imaging position by being revolved around the rotation shaft to be inserted into a tire cavity region. The tread inner surface of the tire is scanned with slit light by being irradiated with the slit light. During the scanning with the slit light, a line irradiation region on the tread inner surface formed through the irradiation of the slit light is imaged via the mirror by the camera from a direction tilted with respect to the tire circumferential direction, and image data is output.

  • Patent number: 9743089
Abstract: In a moving picture coding device that further divides a first block acquired by dividing each picture of a moving picture into a predetermined size into one or a plurality of second blocks and codes the moving picture in units of blocks, a quantization parameter calculation unit calculates a quantization parameter of the second block. A predictive quantization parameter deriving unit derives a predictive quantization parameter of the second block by using the quantization parameter of one or a plurality of third blocks that are neighboring to the second block. The predictive quantization parameter deriving unit derives the predictive quantization parameter of the second block by using a quantization parameter of a fourth block coded before the second block in a case where the third block neighboring to the second block is located at a position beyond a boundary of the first block.

  • Patent number: 9736494
Abstract: A decoding device includes a decoder that decodes information of a direction of intra-picture prediction of a target block and compression data of a residual signal, a prediction signal generator that generates an intra-picture prediction signal using the information of the direction and an previously reconstructed reference sample of an adjacent block, a residual signal restorator that restores a reconstructed residual signal of the target block, and a block storage that restores and stores a pixel signal of the target block. The prediction signal generator derives reference samples from a previously reconstructed block neighboring the target block stored, selects two or more key reference samples, performs an interpolation process between the key reference samples for generating interpolated reference samples, and generates the intra-picture prediction signal by extrapolating the interpolated reference samples based on the direction of the intra-picture prediction.
