Patent number: 5975233Abstract: A hydraulic system for a motor vehicle includes a hydraulic pump which has a hydraulic steering device including a steering motor and a steering valve which is movable from an intermediate position in opposing directions and by which hydraulic fluid lines to and from the steering motor are controlled. A ventilator motor with the bypass line are placed in series with the steering device between the latter and the hydraulic pump. The bypass valve aids the distribution of fluid flow through the ventilator motor and the bypass line for adjustment of the fluid flow in accordance with required cooling power. The bypass valve can be adjusted to allow more hydraulic fluid to flow through the bypass line during actuation of the steering valve, thereby to lower the system pressure for reduced cost and complexity of the hydraulic pump.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Mannesmann Rexroth AGInventor: Egon Eisenbacher

Patent number: 5961136Abstract: A connecting cantilever structure for bicycle mud-guards, wherein, the connecting cantilever is closed die forged on a contracting annulus which is slipped over the pipe for mounting the post pipe of the bicycle seat, the connecting cantilever is forged to form an inversed "U" groove of which the bottom and the tailing end are all opened and the lateral inner side walls are all forged to form unsymmetric undulated and reinforced walls, the top surface thereof is formed to be provided with a slot having a stroke length, a screw, a gasket and a nut are locked mutually in the slot to mount a mud-guard integrately connected with a shelf, the connecting cantilever can completely absorb the stresses from the normal and deviated action force introduced at the ends of the mudguards, thus stability of the mud-guard which is mounted by single point locking can be enhanced.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Inventor: Shao-Chien Tseng

Patent number: 5943961Abstract: In a freight car truck assembly, an insert for converting a substantially flat, inclined, bolster pocket back wall into a pair of inclined surfaces for biasing a pair of split wedges laterally outwardly against side walls of the bolster pocket to create a space between the pair of split wedges. The insert is provided with a centrally located fin which projects into the space between the split wedges and engages against a side frame friction surface to control the location of the insert in the bolster pocket through frictional interference as the fin rubs against the friction surface. The insert can be loosely mounted in the bolster pocket without any need for welding the insert in place.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1997Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Pennsy CorporationInventors: John W. Patent number: 5941332Abstract: A motorized bicycle includes a gasoline powered trimmer motor that is mounted on the rear of the bicycle. The flexible drive cable of the trimmer motor is coupled to a first overrunning clutch by a vertically-oriented gear system that includes a worm and a worm gear. In turn, the first overrunning clutch is coupled via a chain and sprocket system to the conventional chain ring of the bicycle, and a second overrunning clutch is likewise coupled to the chain ring of the bicycle to couple the pedal shaft of the bicycle to the chain ring. Each overrunning clutch includes a central shaft having four pawls, and five reciprocating spring-loaded plungers surround the shaft and selectively engage the pawls every 18.degree. of shaft rotation.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1997Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Inventor: Mark O. Patent number: 5934405Abstract: A vehicle steering apparatus (10) includes a fluid motor (42) having first and second chambers (44, 46). A relatively rotatable, coaxial valve core (22) and valve sleeve (24) control the fluid pressure in the chambers (44, 46). The valve sleeve (24) has first and second recesses (72a, 74a) spaced around an axis (26) on opposite sides of a fluid inlet port (70a). The valve core (22) has a third recess (80a) which communicates the port (70a) with the first and second recesses (72a, 74a) when the valve core and valve sleeve (24) are in the neutral position. The valve core (22) has first and second axially extending lands (90a, 90b) on opposite sides of the third recess (80a) and land surfaces (92a, 92b) facing the first and second recesses (72a, 74a). The valve core (22) has a first passage (100a) for communicating with the first recess (72a) and a second passage (100b) for communicating with the second recess (74a) when in the neutral position.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventor: Jack L. Patent number: 5918891Abstract: A shopping basket and child carrier cart assembly providing a stable and lower positioned child carrier. The assembly has a cart with a lower frame and a basket chamber, the frame having a plurality of front casters and a plurality of rear casters secured to the bottom of the frame adapted for mobility of the cart upon the casters. The basket has a central chamber defined by basket walls, with a hinged basket rear wall adapted to open to provide a rear opening for receiving a basket of a second cart for stacking such carts. The assembly has a child carrier with a generally horizontal seat platform secured to the cart by a brace member extending outward of the rear wall of the basket chamber, in a position below the rear opening. The assembly further provides an expanded wheel base length of the cart for the rear casters positioned below the child carrier, and provides a safety harness removably secured to the seat platform.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1997Date of Patent: July 6, 1999Inventor: Joseph W.
