  • Patent number: 10221561
Abstract: A fire or smoke protection curtain includes a textile fire protection element, which has a first side in the form of a front side and a second side in the form of a reverse side. The textile fire protection element can be put into a compact bearing arrangement and in a protection arrangement in which it counteracts the spread of a fire and/or smoke and while extending along a closing surface. At least one guide track guides the fire protection element while it is in the protection arrangement. The at least one guide track is designed to exert a holding force (FH) that counteracts a bulging of the fire protection element. The at least one guide track is designed to exert the holding force (FH) on the fire protection element to at least 80% from only one of the sides.

  • Patent number: 9906188
Abstract: A two-piece rooftop photovoltaic mounting system. A fixed base portion is attached directly to a roof surface via a lag bolt or other mechanical fastener. A movable portion is attached to and pivots about the base portion providing freedom of movement radially and axially with respect to the base portion. A photovoltaic module coupler is attached to the movable portion to support at least two photovoltaic modules at a location dictated by positioning of the movable portion. A locking nut locks the movable portion to the base portion at the desired location. A sheet of sealant material under the base portion helps prevent ingress of water into the roof surface via the lag bolt.

  • Patent number: 9809977
Abstract: A set of machines and related systems build structures by the additive assembly of discrete parts. These digital material assemblies constrain the constituent parts to a discrete set of possible positions and orientations. In doing so, the structures exhibit many of the properties inherent in digital communication such as error correction, fault tolerance and allow the assembly of precise structures with comparatively imprecise tools. Assembly of discrete cellular lattices by a Modular Isotropic Lattice Extruder System (MILES) is implemented by pulling strings of lattice elements through a forming die that enforces geometry constraints that lock the elements into a rigid structure that can then be pushed against and extruded out of the die as an assembled, loadbearing structure.
