    Abstract: A computer system provides access to data during an outage. A plurality of data records are analyzed to identify entities whose data records indicate that a service is within an upcoming time period. A data resource is generated for each identified entity and the data resources for the identified entities are stored within a repository, wherein each data resource includes data obtained from a data record of a corresponding identified entity that is relevant to the service. The data resource of an identified entity is accessed with a corresponding recovery key during the outage and transform the data resource into one or more printable forms. The one or more printable forms are transmitted to one or more providers of the service. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and program product for providing access to data during an outage in substantially the same manner described above.

    Abstract: Techniques herein make and use a pluggable database archive file (AF). In an embodiment, a source database server of a source container database (SCD) inserts contents into an AF from a source pluggable database (SPD). A target database server (TDS) of a target container database (TCD) creates a target pluggable database (TPD) based on the AF. If a patch on the list of patches does not exist in the TCD, the TDS executes the rollback scripts to adjust the TPD. In an embodiment, the TDS receives a request to access a block of a particular data file. The TDS detects, based on the listing of the data files, a position of the block within the AF. The TDS retrieves the block based on the position.

In one embodiment of synchronous ILM, three options are available for a user: balanced, strict, and dual commit. Dual commit refers to the behavior where one will always create two replicated copies in the same site and then apply ILM asynchronously. Strict refers to the behavior where the storage system attempts to apply the ILM policy synchronously on ingest, and if the storage system cannot the ingest of the object will fail. This ensures that the storage system can guarantee that ILM has been applied to recently ingested objects. Balanced refers to the behavior where the storage system attempts to apply ILM synchronously, but if the storage system cannot the storage system may fall-back to dual-commit.
