Abstract: A method includes receiving vehicle data for a plurality of vehicles in a parking facility over time, the vehicle data including a time t1 indicating when each of the vehicles leaves its corresponding parking spot in the parking facility, and a time t2 indicating when each of the plurality of vehicles reaches an exit of the parking facility. An egress time is determined for each of the plurality of vehicles based at least in part on the corresponding times t1 and t2. A timestamp is assigned to each of the egress times, resulting in timestamped egress times. A current egress time of the parking facility is estimated based at least in part on the timestamped egress times. An action recommendation is based at least in part on the current egress time of the parking facility and is outputted for subsequent viewing by the driver of the particular vehicle.

Abstract: Techniques are described for controlling an autonomous vehicle such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) using objective-based inputs. In an embodiment, the underlying functionality of an autonomous navigation system is exposed via an application programming interface (API) allowing the UAV to be controlled through specifying a behavioral objective, for example, using a call to the API to set parameters for the behavioral objective. The autonomous navigation system can then incorporate perception inputs such as sensor data from sensors mounted to the UAV and the set parameters using a multi-objective motion planning process to generate a proposed trajectory that most closely satisfies the behavioral objective in view of certain constraints. In some embodiments, developers can utilize the API to build customized applications for the UAV. Such applications, also referred to as “skills,” can be developed, shared, and executed to control behavior of an autonomous UAV and aid in overall system improvement.

Abstract: A three-dimensional shape measuring instrument is provided for measuring a three-dimensional shape of the polishing subject face. A polishing controller is provided for controlling a polishing robot alone or with a polishing tool, based on three-dimensional shape data of the polishing subject face obtained by the shape measurement by the three-dimensional shape measuring instrument. The polishing tool provides a polishing action on the respective part of the polishing subject face through controlling of the polishing robot alone or with the polishing tool by the polishing controller. By controlling a measuring robot and the three-dimensional shape measuring instrument by the polishing controller, the three-dimensional shape measuring instrument moves to a predetermined measuring position relative to the polishing subject face to measure the three-dimensional shape of the polishing subject face.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling consistent smooth takeoffs and landings of vertical and/or short-runway takeoff and landing aircraft at sites with gusty conditions. The system includes a network of wind measurement stations deployed around the perimeter of a takeoff/landing site for spatio-temporally characterizing wind fluctuations (e.g., wind gusts) that enter a volume of airspace overlying the site, data processing means for deriving information about the fluctuations from the wind measurements, communication means for transmitting disturbance information to the aircraft, and a flight control system onboard the aircraft that is configured to use the disturbance information to control the aircraft in a manner that compensates for the fluctuations. The wind measurement units may include laser Doppler anemometers, sound detection and ranging systems or other devices capable of simultaneous spatially and temporally resolved wind measurements.

Abstract: A method and system for continuously re-planning a vehicle's path, in the face of stationary and moving obstacles, dynamically calculates a new path in real time which is both efficient and maintains minimum safety clearances relative to obstacles. Repulsion signals emanating from obstacles and propagating through delineated sections of a grid representing a geographic space are summed along with values representing the relative distance of the sections from the vehicle origin and vehicle destination. The grid sections having optimal values according to a predetermined criteria represent an efficient and safe travel path between the vehicle origin and destination.

Abstract: A system and method for fee-based order priority level modification in an electronic trading environment are described. When an order reaches an exchange, a priority level of the order may be changed to a higher priority level, and the priority level of the order initially at the higher priority level may be changed to a lower priority level of the received order. In one embodiment, a trader who is gaining a higher priority level will be preferably charged a fee for having his order moved to the higher priority level, and at least a portion of that fee may be paid to a trader who is giving up his high priority level.

Abstract: Subscribers to a communications infrastructure, such as a GPRS network, can pre-pay for use of metered resources of the infrastructure. When a pre-payment subscriber joins the network, the current credit amount for the subscriber is distributed as credit values between user-specific virtual purses each associated with a respective metered resource. Upon use of a metered resource by the subscriber, the credit value held in the associated purse is correspondingly reduced, with use of the resource being dependent on the purse being in credit. The virtual purses are preferably electronically distributed to be close by the metered resources to which they relate whereby to reduce network billing traffic. When the subscriber leaves the network, the remaining credit values are consolidated from the purses.

Abstract: A technique for making a payment to a payee on behalf of a payor by a payment service provider is provided. A determination is made as to if a requested payment amount is less than a certain amount. The certain amount is associated with the payee and is determined by the service provider, not the payee. If the payment amount is less than the certain amount, payment to the payee on behalf of the payor is made drawn on an account of the service provider.

Abstract: A communication routing system receives signals from sources thereof and converts them into a standard format, using mapping definitions selected on the basis of their sources. Signals in the standard format are converted into output formats according to their destinations using mapping definitions selected on the basis of their destinations. In a preferred embodiment, the standard format involves distributing data from each received signal across a plurality of tables of a database.

Abstract: Systems and method for mediating risks associated with orders in an electronic trading system are provided. A front end component includes a plurality of trading engines that receive orders from traders. A back-end component includes a match system. The system includes a credit control module, which may be located at the back-end (e.g., clearinghouse), front end, a combination thereof, or other location that communicates with the plurality of trading engines. The credit control may monitor aggregate risk parameters for the trading engines and requests credits from trading engines.

Abstract: Techniques for processing of recurring payments are provided that do not require merchants to update consumer account information when a consumer is issued a new account number for a payment card or the like. For example, when a consumer is issued a new account number by an issuer, the new account number can be provided to a payment processing network. A server computer in the payment processing network then identifies any recurring payments associated with the user's old account number and provides the consumer with a list of merchants for which the consumer had established recurring payments associated with the old account number. The consumer is then provided the opportunity to select those merchants for whom the consumer wishes to continue the recurring payments using the new account number.

Abstract: The Seafloor Power Station is one or more unmanned electric power generating Units (2) sending power to and operated from existing coastal sites by a manned facility (1) by connecting lines and hoses (3) delivering power to a grid by lines (4). Each Unit's hull (11) maintained in a vacuum, contains both nuclear steam and electricity generating systems. The hull functions as overpressure containment and as condenser in the event of a loss of coolant accident or other steam release. The Units operate submerged in very cold water, with depth set by remotely controlled vertical mooring systems, mounted on gravity mats (27). A Unit must be surfaced by its mooring system to refuel the reactor, an action both conspicuous and public, enabling international oversight of the fuel disposition.

Abstract: A system and method for managing a financial institution account with a transaction card used as a deferred-debit transaction card and as an automated banking card, wherein debit transactions are stored by a managing computer system for a billing cycle without being automatically debited against the account until after debit transaction activity. In certain instances, this is not until after the activity for the billing cycle is reported to the holder of the account. Also, a limited time period is provided relative to the billing cycle, for the user to provide funds as consideration for payment against the transaction card purchases without an automatic debiting of available funds as full consideration for payment against the deferred-debit purchases. Before the limited time period lapses, the available amount useful for additional purchases can be increased.

Abstract: A system for automated trading of U.S. Treasury, Liquid Agency, and Zero Coupon STRIP financial instruments comprises an updatable system database; an updatable offering inventory database which receives real time price and quantity information pertaining to each financial instrument from a market data feed; and a system proprietor operative to determine a national best bid and offer price and a derived price for each financial instrument in the offering inventory. The system proprietor applies a price improvement process to a trade in the event that an offsetting trade occurs, and updates the system database and offering inventory to reflect transactions executed by the system. Advantageously, the system provides users with a mechanism to provide the best price at the time of execution. Historical data is utilized to (i) price securities that are spread off a benchmark where an active quote for a particular security is unavailable, and (ii) retrieve prices for future analysis.

Abstract: A deferred-type payment approach facilitates transaction card management and processing. According to an example embodiment, a user's transaction card purchases are authorized against a purchase limit associated with a consideration-bearing (e.g., interest-bearing) account. The purchases are tracked and, at the end of a billing cycle, provided to the user via a statement or other informative approach. During a payment time period after the end of the billing cycle, the user is afforded an opportunity to review tracked purchases and provide funds to cover the purchases. If the user does not provide funds for the purchases during the payment time period, funds are automatically transferred from the consideration-bearing account to cover the purchases at the end of the payment time period. In this regard, purchases made with the transaction card against the consideration-bearing account are not assessed against the consideration-bearing account until after the billing cycle has ended.
