  • Patent number: 9898810
Abstract: Aspects are disclosed for enhancing digital media. In an aspect, a target object in a primary image is identified, and reference images that include the target object are located. The target object is then modified within the primary image according to data derived from analyzing the reference image. In another aspect, a primary file is received, and at least one reference file is referenced to generate enhancement data that facilitates enhancing the primary file from an extrapolation of the reference file. In yet another aspect, media files corresponding to a common event are aggregated, and a desired enhancement of a primary file is identified. Here, the desired enhancement corresponds to a modification of an obstruction included in the primary file. A reference file which includes data associated with the desired enhancement is then referenced, and the obstructed data is modified based on replacement data extrapolated from the reference file.

  • Patent number: 9898822
Abstract: A method reconstructs a scene as a three-dimensional (3D) model by first acquiring a sequence of images of the scene with a camera. Then, feature point matches or line matches are extracted from the sequence of images, variables for camera optical centers and 3D points are initialized using random values, and n copies of the variables are made depending on an availability of n constraints. The n copies are projected to satisfy each of the n constraints. Then, the n copies are replaced with averages of the copies and the projecting and the replacing are repeated until convergence to provide the 3D model.

  • Patent number: 9898833
Abstract: An exemplary apparatus determines the dimensions of a package while being moved by a transport through a scanning zone. Sensors with different respective fields of view are disposed about a scanning zone and generate corresponding frames of 3-D images where some of the points represent the transport and package. A computing apparatus translates the points in the images into a transport coordinate system with a common point of origin on the transport so that the package does not appear to be in motion from frame to frame. The computing apparatus merges the translated points in different frames into a combined point cloud image and deletes points representing the transport resulting in a final point cloud image of the package. The computing apparatus determines the dimensions of the package based on the location of points representing the package in the final point cloud image.

  • Patent number: 9875428
Abstract: Methods and systems for recovering corrupted/degraded images using approximations obtained from an ensemble of multiple sparse models are disclosed. Sparse models may represent images parsimoniously using elementary patterns from a “dictionary” matrix. Various embodiments of the present disclosure involve simple and computationally efficient dictionary design approach along with low-complexity reconstruction procedure that may use a parallel-friendly table-lookup process. Multiple dictionaries in an ensemble model may be inferred sequentially using greedy forward-selection approach and can incorporate bagging/boosting strategies, taking into account application-specific degradation. Recovery performance obtained using the proposed approaches with image super resolution and compressive recovery can be comparable to or better than existing sparse modeling based approaches, at reduced computational complexity.

  • Patent number: 9858506
Abstract: The current document is directed to methods and systems that convert document images containing mathematical expression into corresponding electronic documents. In one implementation, an image or sub-image containing a mathematical expression is recursively partitioned into blocks separated by white-space stripes. Horizontal and vertical partitioning are alternately and recursively applied to the image or sub-image containing a mathematical expression until the lowest-level blocks obtained by partitioning correspond to symbols recognizable by character-recognition methods. Graph-based analysis of the recognized symbols provides a basis for encoding an equivalent representation of the mathematical expression contained in the image or sub-image.
