Abstract: Amphoacetate surfactants are made by reacting a compound of formula
RCONHCH2CH2NHCH2CH2OH
where R is an aliphatic radical, with formaldehyde and a cyanide of formula:
R1CN, wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal, and, when R1 represents a hydrogen atom, hydrolysing the nitrile obtained with an alkali.

Abstract: Disclosed is a water dispersible antifoam concentrate comprising a polydiorganosiloxane component;fine solid particles of inorganic oxide, bearing on the surface thereof a polydiorganosiloxane component;a nonionic emulsifier component;a thickener component; andoptionally, water, at up to 5 wt. % of the concentrate if present therein;optionally, but preferably, solvent, and preservative or biocide. The antifoam concentrate can be dispersed with a pre-set amount of water, using moderate shear, to obtain a complete, storage stable, low cost antifoam emulsion, which can be used in agricultural, food, textile, waste water, liquid detergent and general industrial applications.
Abstract: An emulsion where water is a continuous phase and having a discontinuous oil phase comprising:(a) silicone hydrides containing units of the formula:R.sub.a H.sub.b SiO.sub.(4-a-b)/2where a may be 0, 1, or 2; b may be 1 or 2; a+b may be 1, 2, or 3; R is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and(b) hydroxy substituted silicone containing units of the formula:R.sub.c (OH).sub.d SiO.sub.(4-c-d)/2wherein c is 1, 2, or 3; d is 1 or 2; c+d may be 2, 3, or 4; and R is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical of from 1 to 12 carbon atoms.
Abstract: In a process for producing a silver halide emulsion through mixing a halide solution and a silver nitrate solution in the presence of a hydrophilic colloid, the improvement is disclosed wherein any part of the equipment that is employed in the process starting with the initiation of silver halide formation and ending with the coating of the emulsion on a support and with which the reaction solution will come in contact is made of a stainless steel having a molybdenum content of 2.2-5.0 wt %.
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention an antifungal capsule formulation providing enhanced stability for antifungal agents subject to oxidative degradation, e.g. nystatin, is disclosed. The new formulation comprises an antifungal agent, in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 50 percent by weight of the total formulation; and a nonaqueous carrier, throughout which said agent is uniformly dispersed.Additionally, an antifungal capsule formulation is disclosed wherein thixotropic properties are imparted to the drug carrier system by addition of a gelling agent, such as silicon dioxide. Such thixotropic properties are desired to promote and prolong adhesion of the drug system to the vaginal mucosa in the treatment of vaginal fungal invections.
Abstract: An instant coffee substitute is prepared from roasted soybeans. Soybeans are preheated until their interiors are at near roasting temperatures. The interiors of the preheated soybeans are maintained at roasting temperatures for an extended time to over-roast the soybeans. The roasted soybeans are the ground, extracted and filtered as necessary. After filtering, the extract is dried and later may be reconstituted. The product has the color, flavor and aroma of coffee, without any noticeable soy aroma or flavor.
