  • Patent number: 10927603
Abstract: A high trip rate drilling rig has first handling equipment to transport stands in/out of setback, second handling equipment to deliver stands to/from well center, and a hand-off position to set down stands for exchange between first/second equipment. Second equipment can include a top drive and a delivery arm translatable along the mast past each other, and a clasp on the arm slidable on the stand for constraint below the upper end, which can allow the top drive to engage/disengage the constrained stand above the arm. A high trip rate method transports stands in/out of setback, delivers stands to/from well center, and sets down and hands off stands at hand-off position between the setback transportation and well center delivery. The delivery can include engaging/dis engaging the top drive and a stand constrained by the clasp.

  • Patent number: 10907447
Abstract: A clean-out tool and method of cleaning out a wellbore. The clean-out tool is placed at the end of a coiled tubing or other conveyance string. The clean-out tool comprises a tubular housing providing an elongated bore through which fluid flows. The tubular housing has back-jetting ports disposed at an upward angle therein. The clean-out tool is configured to operate in a back-jetting mode when the clean-out fluid is pumped into the tubular housing at a first flow rate. In this mode, a portion of clean-out fluid flows through the bore, up an annular region and then through the back jetting ports. The clean-out tool is further configured to operate in a fluid flow-through mode when the clean-out fluids are pumped into the bore of the tubular housing at a second flow rate. In this mode, all of the clean-out fluid flows through the clean-out tool.

  • Patent number: 10883313
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for drilling a new secondary wellbore from a primary wellbore in which a production string is already deployed. The production string is severed below a desired kick-off location for the new secondary wellbore and the upstream portion of the production string is withdrawn from the primary wellbore, thereby exposing an end of the remaining production string. A lateral orientation device (LOD) is mounted on the exposed end of the production string. The LOD includes a shoulder for seating on the exposed end, anchoring mechanism(s) to secure the LOD to adjacent tubular(s), and seals to sealingly engage adjacent tubulars. The LOD may include a contoured surface for orientation of a tool, such as a whipstock, which may be utilized to drill a new wellbore. Alternatively, a work string may be coupled with the LOD to perform pumping operations in the wellbore below the LOD.

  • Patent number: 10865614
Abstract: Systems and methods include an extreme range anchor, having extending assemblies configured to engage a wellbore, for providing a self-centering, reusable anchor location within a wellbore. The extending assemblies include a first set of arms connected to a first brace, a second set of arms connected to a second brace, and a set of footplates. Each footplate in the set of footplates is connected to the first set of arms and the second set of arms. Each footplate includes a fixator coupled to a radially external face and configured to securely engage the wellbore. The system also includes a pull rod rigidly coupled to the first brace and slidably connected to the second brace. Forcing the pull rod in an axial direction shortens a distance between the first brace and the second brace and forces the set of footplates to move in a radial direction toward the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 10851600
Abstract: A method of connecting an end part of a pipe attachment device to a part of a function element, includes: aligning longitudinal axes of a substantially tubular end part of a pipe attachment device and a substantially tubular part of a function element; applying a force that moves the end part of the pipe attachment device relatively towards the part of the function element along the longitudinal axis. Contact between the end part of the pipe attachment device and the part of the function element causes each of a plurality of fingers on the end part to elastically deflect. Applying the force so that each of the plurality of fingers on the end part returns from their deflected position and is retained in one or more holes in the part of the function element.
