  • Patent number: 11105945
Abstract: Processes and systems for deblending blended seismic data with attenuated source signatures and free-surface effects are described. The blended seismic data may have been recorded in a marine survey in which multiple sources are activated in the body of water above a subterranean formation. Receivers record overlapping pressure and vertical velocity wavefield responses from the subterranean formation as corresponding blended pressure wavefield and blended vertical velocity wavefield. Processes and systems compute an upgoing pressure wavefield and a downgoing vertical velocity wavefield based on the blended pressure wavefield and blended vertical velocity wavefield. Deblended primary pressure wavefields are computed based on the upgoing pressure and downgoing vertical velocity. The deblended primary pressure wavefields may be used to generate images of the subterranean formation that are substantially free of source signatures and free-surface effects.

  • Patent number: 11086038
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to reducing noise in geophysical marine survey data. Such techniques may include adapting an initial set of noise templates to recorded seismic data to generate adapted noise templates and estimating a noise component in the recorded seismic data. The estimating may include determining a degree to which noise and signal components are correlated in the recorded seismic data and masking the recorded seismic data proportionally to the degree of correlation. The adapted noise templates may then be further adapted to a difference between the estimate of the noise component and the noise templates themselves. Resultant noise templates may then be applied to denoise the recorded seismic data.

  • Patent number: 11079507
Abstract: A virtual seismic shot record is generated based at least in part on seismic interferometry of the passive seismic data. Then, a frequency bandwidth of the virtual seismic shot record is determined, wherein the frequency bandwidth comprises a plurality of frequencies. The virtual seismic shot record is transformed into a frequency-dependent seismic shot record based on a first frequency of the plurality of frequencies. Further, a phase shift is applied to the frequency-dependent seismic shot record. A first velocity model is generated from the phase shifted frequency-dependent seismic shot record. A second velocity model may be generated using full-waveform inversion (FWI). One or more depth slices are identified from the second velocity model. A seismic image is generated based on the one or more depth slices for use with seismic exploration above a region of subsurface including a hydrocarbon reservoir and containing structural features conducive to a presence, migration, or accumulation of hydrocarbons.
